Welcome Black Irish.  I, too, am a former Chicagoan, but I decided to move south to a milder climate (southern Ohio, and it really is milder...)

"Stylists" don't like crew cuts.  There's no future in them because they are too easy to do yourself.   My DW bought our first set of clippers when the barber I went to raised his price to $9.00.  Paid for themselves the third time she used them on me..

I've noticed we have quite a few Chicagoans who have left for warmer climates out here in AZ.
