It's been a week since I took the plunge and I've had some interesting reactions.

My wife is getting used to it. Now she says I look like a bada** nerd in a movie. Yeah.

My kid laughed the first 6 times he saw me. "Hard to get used to".  His girlfriend refuses to acknowledge it. Typical. She's an Elle Macpherson.

My ex-wife (we still get along good) said "AAAAAIIIIEEEE! What have you done?" I shaved my head, dufus.

My mom. Well, she hasn't gotten back to me yet.

Co-workers:

Boss made me show everyone. He laughed his butt off at their reactions. Now I'm trying to get him all Sly.

Kenny the pressman says now I'm a triple X. I told him to get rid of that spiky crap on his head.

It is interesting the variety of reactions we get.  Some of those were good ones.  It'll all die down pretty soon and just become old hat.  I'll soon be a year at the end of this month and I'm glad I'm to the point where most people find it hard to remember me with hair.

It gets better. My boss came in today (Monday) and his hair was so short he might as well just shave it off. Say's it probably wouldn't be a good idea - people would think something was up if everyone started shaving their heads all of a sudden. I'm working on him tho.

I'm starting to believe that a lot of how people respond depends on their previous relationship to you.  Another guy I work with went sly a couple weeks before I did and he never gets any jokes or questions.  He's very approachable too.  Me, I STILL get puns and jokes and comments!    We talk about how different people at work are and he thinks that everyone just knows me better... he might be right.

My wife has finally grown to like the look although she would still prefer hair and my daughters never even mention it.  But it sure seems to take folks a long time to figure out I ain't growing back!

We hired a new guy in the layout department yesterday.

Shaved. Doubled the population in 1 week.

It's funny.  When I shaved a year ago, a few people mentioned it in the office that morning, and that was it.  When friends saw it, they acknowledged it but no big reactions.  I guess it's a natural look for me.

I'm still running into people I know that haven't seen me since the shave. Women don't mention it. Men do. Go figure.

I suspect that I now cut such a sexy and dark figure with my scars that women are so taken with my appearance that they find it difficult to actually talk about my big.............never mind.

At any rate, women don't mention it, men have to play 20 questions. The important part is the Tigers are winning and I am hot.

I get some stares and some friendliness here and there. One girl in the video store kept looking over while with her boyfriend. Better reactions than with my old mop that's for sure.

I mean a cartoon character from an advertising campaign comes to life right before her eyes and the dude is frickin' bald and HUGE!
