I too and an RN hence the screen name. I have my BSN and I am also an active duty Naval Officer. I agree with WARHAWK, most of the best nurses are men!!! I think we are more grounded in reality, and can deal better with human suffering. I have been an Oncology Nurse for 3 years, and have helped many sick people get better, and those who could not have dignified deaths. Such is life.... Good luck Lance I got your back!!

Just wanted to update everyone, if you care. I received a call from the local hospital where I was trying to get employed with the other day. They hired me and want me to start next week. So I'm finally getting back to work.
I can't wait. I had applied for 3 "general" jobs with the hospital in the hopes of getting hired on so that I can use their tuition reimbursement to, hopefully, become a RN. They hired me for the "Protection Officer" position. It use to be called "Security Guard." But they had to change the name because they had too many people that use to be security guards coming to apply thinking they were just going to walk halls and check doors their whole shift. At the hospital the "protection officer" is sort of a all round helper of sorts. The main job is security and making sure things are safe around the hospital. But I may have to transport patients to and from the hospital, help a nurse or orderly get a patient back into bed if they've fallen out, if the elevator gets stuck help get people out of the elevator, etc...I'm real excited and pumped this time around. I'm ready to make this move, get off my a$$, and make this thing happen. Tomorrow I'm going to check into my local community college right around the corner from me to see what classes I need to get started. Then I'm going to decide how much I want to take on at once. I may even start with just one class to ease back into the "groove." Just wanted to give an update and say thank to all my sly bros for the words of encouragement.

Out-freakin-standing Lance. Really glad to hear about the new opportunity. Getting out and about and bringing in some cash has got to help the stress situation.
