Couple Questions
« on: February 14, 2008, 05:31:01 PM »
Hey guys, with your advice im going to try to stay with the sly look instead of the buzz for now...but I do have a couple questions:

I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and picked up Headlube and the Headblade Exfoliating Cream. They did NOT sell Clearhead there or at Walmart. Is there a place they sell it? And, is there something BETTER than Clearhead for bumps and ingrown hairs? Does it work on the face?

I bought the Fus\ion at Walmart to try. I have to admit, im slightly skeptical. Im getting razor burn and nicks with 2 and 3 blades, and you guys have me using FIVE now...but I guess trial and error on that...

But with the fusion, do you guys shave in short strokes, or front to back like the headblade with one swipe?

I continue to appreciate the advice!

I use my fusion for mainly touch up after the headblade but I have used as the primary and I do use shorter strokes with it than I do with the HB but they both work great. Its just gonna take some trial and error to see what fits you. As far as the clear head I haven't seen it out yet.

You can try St. Ives apricot scrub if you can't find clearhead.  Probably should not use this everyday.  I've found the fusion and Mach III are the easiest on my face and give the least irritation.

I use the fusion, with the same kind of short strokes I use on my face. It's worked really well so far. My skin is fairly sensitive, and I haven't had too many problems. The Fusion is very forgiving as far as nicks go.

Shaveme, bear in mind we are only providing advice that has worked for us, We are not FORCING you to use the 5 bladed Fusion. Merely suggesting possibilities that might help overcome the trouble you are having.

I have never once cut my head when shaving with a Fusion razor. With the HB, I inevitably end up with at least 1 nick or 2.

Im glad you have decided to still give it a try.  I really dont have much to tell you because I dont use anything other than just doing a regular wash with my shower gel on my head then I headslick it ....use the headblade....cold water rinse...then ice cube it....and then top it off with clear aloe vera.  Only thing I experience is the dry scalp just right after shaving because it is winter time and the air inside the house is warm and dry.

For those of you who shave every other day, do you still put headlube/clearhead on the days you dont shave?

You might want to look a little closer at Wal-Mart/Target in the ethnic section for the shave bump / ingrown hair stuff.  I guess those shaving issues must be more prevalent for black people as that is where I tend to see some of those products stocked on the shelves... not trying to offend, just an observation.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

shaveme:  with the fusion I usually shave from the neck up to the top/back area of my head where the direction changes then go from the forehead back to the same area.  then I wet my other hand and feel around for where I need touchups.   My skins not that sensitive so I just finish up with a cold water rinse and then some headlube once my head is dry.

Also since the batteries in my fusion power died and I haven't gotten around to replacing them yet I find that the vibrations from the power do cut down the irritation at least for me.
