If you are going to fry, be very careful.
We had a guy in the town I used to work in who had a very embarrassing Thanksgiving when he burned down his deck and did some damage to his house trying to deep fry a turkey. It took him a while to live it down, since he was the fire chief...
OH NO!!!! That's not good at all!!!

That's not only a good point but very true, and not only houses, garages and car ports burn every year, there are fairly regular reports of the cook or people, including children standing by, who get burned by fire or the hot oil. This isn't a technique for beginners. Water in the turkey is a real no, no--really causes some oil to pop catch fire or burn the cook and others. -

I will be working thansgiving this year, i was born in canada, so i will work thanksgiving so an american co-worker can have the day off, i will have christmas off.

There are some occupations where holidays still require people to work. A lot of these jobs belong to people who serve to keep us safe. They deserve to be remembered when we give thanks this year. Police, fire, and of course the military.
My son will not be at our Thanksgiving table this year. He is a 911 dispatcher.
