Well we wound up back in the emergency room about 10:15 last night. Her face swelled back up pretty good and it scared the Hell out of us. So I ran her to the hospital. They checked her out and sent us home about midnight.
We went back in this AM at 8 AM and she received her second dose of intraveneous antibiotics. SHe's back to her old self today...... though her face is still swollen and red in some places.
Cheryl and I are just wiped out tired.

Mike, check out McKenna's room thoroughly. Could there be a nest of spiders and she got bit more than once?

Mike, I'd get an exterminator in ASAP and spray down the whole place.

Well the doctors told us today.... no way it's a spider bite or any other critter...... but she definetly has cellulitus. They said the germ can enter thru the very smallest of scrapes or breaks in the skin.
But she is definetly well on her way to full recoverey.... 10 days of VERY strong antibiotis..... two to three days more until the majority of the stuff on her face is gone.

Indeed cellulitis can do just that! When I was in the military I saw a bunch of this stuff as a medic. You wouldn't believe how quick this stuff can migrate. Good thing you all caught it quick. 'Cause as you know it can fester into some nasty stuff (not proper to post here)!
So good to hear that McKenna is doing better!

I can't wait to meet up with you Koz. We'll have a great time.
Still in my prayers...

Well the doctors told us today.... no way it's a spider bite or any other critter...... but she definetly has cellulitis.
hey mike: i haven't been active here at the sly forum & i just finished reading your post. 1st of all.... i'm glad that your little angel is doing fine. we have her in our prayers as well as the rest of your family. 2nd of all... i strongly disagree with the doctors. i'm no doctor but i'm a very proud RN and i have taken care of patients with spider bites many times.
matter of fact.... i posted a thread (i think it was titled..."kill that spider" or something like that) about a year and a half ago on this forum. i tried locating it but was unable. maybe someone... here can find it. anyways.... basically the message was on that thread is that if u saw a spider in your house is 2 immediately kill it. because... i have taken care of several patients with cellulitis in the past as a RN that were cause by spiders.
i will share one case that i had. it was a male patient who had cellulitis of the scrotum.

yes... i said scrotum. his cellulitis of the scrotum was so severe that he had 2 b hospitalized. the infection was so bad that he need surgery 2 drain the infection out. his cellulitis was so intense that his scrotum was the size of grapefruits. it was probably bigger. man.... it was difficult on me as a RN taking care of him because as a man (i can only imagine how painful it was). it was soooo painful that i had 2 administer heavy intravenous pain meds 2 him every 2 hours.
basically... spiders can cause cellulitis. that's why if i see a spider in the house. i''m going 4 the kill. trust me... u don't want 2 have cellulitis of the scrotum.

on a side note.... if any sly member can find that post. repost it because it's a gr8 message 2 kill that spider.

say no 2 spiders and yes 2 NOT having cellulitis.

Glad all is on the mend. Re spiders--they were a problem at our place in Waveland MS before Katrina blew it to Hell, but our exterminator said kill the other bugs, the spiders will go too--obvious, they fed on the bugs. So, he used a bug killer that was safe for children and pets, bugs dies--lots of roaches in that damp climate and closed house--and spiders went away.
