I don't think they're ready for "Slyness" in Asia
« on: January 19, 2008, 10:19:50 AM »
I've been living in Korea, had vacations in China and Japan in the past year.  They don't really understand voluntary baldness.  The children ask me if I'm a monk, because it is common for Buddhist monks to shave their domes.  After a year, the kids I'm teaching are still not used to it.  They ask me questions about my head everyday.  I didn't take this much of an interrogation from my own mother!  I'm trying to get balding Asians to let go of their fear, but they just keep brushing the few hairs on their head to the side.  I'm new to the site.  Are their any Asian guys here that are sporting the chrome dome?  Let me know. O0

Like Warhawk, I am also a filipino sporting the chrome look :)

You're probably going to find more of us rather than the other asians as we do not have too many buddhist monks over there (if any) and though bald or balding men are rare, the few that do sport the look are eventually accepted for their look back home. Doesn't mean it makes it any easier mind you but I can only imagine what the other asian countries might think of the look.

I see a lot of Sly Asian guys here in the Bay Area, though I do think many of them or Filipino.

VERY rough on the rookies here aren't you? :P

I'm still not as dedicated as most of you and I do miss sessions once in awhile resulting a growth spurt but I do end up smooth as a baby's behind every weekend I guarantee you that!

Just give me some time and I will eventually make this a daily routine!  O0

I've travelled in India more than any other Asian country; and even though I was last there in '94; you do see men there with shaved or closely buzzed heads.   Actually a lot of people (men , women AND children) will have their head shaved as a religious offering / vow.  ...

As you say ; it seems rare in China / Japan / Korea ...  probably because of the religious connotations;  hip young guys probably don't want to look like monks ! ...

Although, of course you see plenty of Asian-American (and Asian-Canadian) guys sporting the sly look ...

That's an interesting insight Shane... by the way, welcome aboard!

I guess I shouldn't complain that my co-workers still crack jokes, at least I don't get grilled!  O:O

I'm lucky in that my wife is very much willing to allow me to have guys nights out and guy trips.  It probably helps that I have been doing nights and trips since we met and haven't given her a reason to regret letting me do it yet.
