When I was registering for the site, I was mainly focused on getting advice and encouragement on headshaving.  It was the first time that I had ever joined any type of web forum and I was a little nervous about how much personal info to give out (including my name).  SLYinKC was just something that came to mind since I live in the Kansas City metro area.  Since getting more involved in the site, I have many times considered changing it to my real name.  Seems like most everyone here knows me as Rick, anyways.  But after 9 months it just seems to be like a second name.  I'm just waiting for the day I actually run into someone out in public and they call me by my screen name.

That's amazing, it's my story--but that's true of many posts here!  My screen name is a shortened version of the name I use for our Mardi Gras parade parties and plays on the name of the street I live on.  I'm still far less comfortable w/ having information on the web than I am being Sly.  Something to do w/ wanting to be able to Google my name and come up w/ and empty screen.  I do like this place, probably here more than I should from a time spent perspective.  But, I rationalize, if I can help just one fencer over the hump, it's worth it.

Probably the only person who can figure out where my screen name comes from is TY. The easy part would be the 007 from James Bond.
So lets see who can guess (other than TY) where the first part comes from.. it'll make it more fun to see what people think.....  ???

When I registered to join this site, for some reason, the name of the Racer X character from the old Speed Racer cartoons popped into my head.  I don't know why; I hadn't thought about that show in many years.  But for some reason, I thought of it, so I just modified it slightly to fit with the theme of the forum.

When I joined up, I used "KySLY" because like Rick I was a little hesitant for some reason about sharing my actual name, but sometime later I just changed it to "Scott" you know cuz that's my actual name, well one of them!

My first name is Christopher so on the 1st day of culinary school they gave us our uniforms and nametags and what name did mine say?  Chris.  After I mentioned it they told me I'd have to wait until the next semester to get a new one, so I had to get used to being called "Chris" for the first time in my life.

Same thing happened when I started working at Kroger here in Louisville - they had my nametag for me and it said "Chris."  All of my friends and family back home call me "Scott" so it's kinda weird and sometimes feels like I live a double life?!

JDog is a nickname that I acquired from a good friend of mine who likened my appearance to an inmate on a prison documentary who went by the name J Dog. All my workmates call me JDog now too
Cool new avatar JDog!  Diggin' the shine bro!

My name comes from back in the late 90s when I was in college. The first time I got on the internet was when my college roomate and myself had a WEBTV and we would go in these chat rooms and talk to girls. My handle was Nick912 (it generated it for me) and I have always used it for passwords and stuff since then
