Intro

Just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Cameron, shaved my head once but it didn't work out too well.  Hoping with the advice of some seasoned shavers I can make it happen and not be afraid to be seen in public.  Awesome site and I look forward to getting to know you folks.

Cameron, welcome to Sly Bald Guys!  What happened the first time that we can help you fix?

Thanks for the welcome.  Well I used a Schick Extreme 3 razor and used a shaving gel, I went over my head and had a gnarly case of razor burn.  My head was pink in spots and was actually hot to the touch, like I had a fever or something.  I'm not sure what I did wrong maybe went over it too many times?  Shaved against the grain too and my hair is really course, at least in the spots I'm not losing it ;D.  I posted in the Head Shaving section too asking about a good razor, electric or otherwise, also curious what sorts of shaving cream are a good idea and what product I should put on my head after shaving it.

Welcome, Cameron.  Stick around, there's lots of good advice around here.  We all have had different experiences and chances are someone else has experienced some of the same problems.  All I can say is to make sure you use a good razor and a good quality  gel or cream.  If your blades were dull, that could cause problems like you mentioned.

Dude...if you're a Cam...and on this site, you gotta shave your head smooth bro...just kiddin'.

You'll look great bald...why would you be afraid to show your naked dome in public...I say just be sure to really "prep" your head for the shave..leave on the shaving cream during your shower , rinse, then reapply before the actual shave..then moisture your bare dome after it's done..

a daily shaved head gets used to a shave much easier than a face..

shave your head clean bro...it'll look great and very SLY! O:O

Welcome to the Site!
As others have said, check the shaving routines for tips and tricks. You didn't state if you sinked or showered shaved, but the shower shave made a big difference to my scalp.

Shaving gel tends to clog the razor blades when used for head shaving. I think there's too much surface area on the head vs. the chin. I'd recommend HeadSlick or KOS Shave Oil, or Shave Secret Oil. Blades vary person to person. I know some guys use the HeadBlade with Atra Twin Blades ... but if I do that, I bleed from innumerable small nicks. I use the HeadBlade Sport with the HeadBlade Triple Blades. So long as I keep the razor rinsed out, I get a perfect (nick-free) shave. It also helps to use a facial scrub (HeadShed or another scrub) to remove dead skin from your scalp before shaving.

It's not as complicated as it sounds ... in the shower, I wet my scalp, use the facial scrub, put on HeadSlick and maybe a few drops of oil, and shave. Up the back and sides, front to back across the top and back, and then side to side on the top and back if there're rough spots.
Nothing says 'God loves you' more than a bald man in mirrored sunglasses.
