I have a fake tree and a fake smile on my face when my wife says lets go shoppin!

Was at the mall 45 minutes and was ready to kill somebody especially when I went with my wife into bath and body works!!!
No brain cells that day!

I only wish we could get a fake tree.  We have a giant real one that requires watering 3 times a day, and guess who gets to do it?  Yeah,  grinch-boy.   

I've not been to the mall and refuse to go (this time of year).  All that driving around for a parking place and long lines out the door. No thanks...    I'm buying everything online this year.

Darn, ribs and beer sounds too good. That would help with my study 

I'm finishing up my exams this coming Friday and I'll be home Sunday to help dad put up the Christmas lights. I get to look forward to risking my life 15 feet up in the air on a 20 year old ladder. Wish me luck!

Here are my tips for a hassle free christmas.
1- Shop at Walmart between 1 thru 5am as it get closer to christmas. There is almost never a line, even on Dec. 24th.
2- If you must go to the mall, hit it at opening time or about 1 hour before they lock the doors, know what you want and where to get it.... even call a day before and make sure they have it in stock.
3- If your kids are old enough, get them involved. My son and I did a project on plywood that we traced, cut-out and put on top of the house. Now every year he totes it up on the house and I help set it in place, then I say "boy some lights on the house sure would look good with that", and I "let" him hit the small eves of the house while I "slowly" take care of the high parts.
4- Put the tree in the stand outside (if a real tree) while your son/daughter/wife retrieves the lights and ornaments out the attic, then string the lights on the tree outside. Carry the tree in and set in place and say "hey, can you start putting the ornaments on while I get something to drink". After you fix your "alcoholic beverage, you stand in the kitchen for a few minutes shuffling through the cabinets (while downing that drink), then fix another and go to the shed/garage/car or anywhere far from the tree area with drink in hand. When you return after about 45 minutes and they say, where did you go, were ready to put the star on top, you just give the blank look and say, I have been looking for the candy canes to put on the tree, have you seen them?

These are tried and tested by yours truly and never gets old!!

The graphic is funny but you should hear the comments I get about it on my roof. My neighbors have already asked when I was going to put it up this year, they seemed upset when I told them I wasn't going to be home so my son said he didn't see a reason to put it up. The spots I use on it light up the trees in the woods behind the house.... thought a plane was landing on my roof one night last year

I guess I am the odd man out in this conversation.  I actually enjoy Christmas.  When I go to the mall with the Mrs., I just sit out in the main area and watch people stressing over everything.  I'm a pretty low key guy by nature so I don't get too stressed.  In fact, my secretary asked me this morning if I had finished my shopping.  I told her that would have required me to get started.  I guess I had better head to the mall.

You are NOT alone Steve.  I too really enjoy Christmas and especially all it represents.  Like Charlie Brown I refuse to let the commercialism of the modern world destroy that great feeling.  I love to see the look on little kids faces, the smile on the face of an adult for whom you have planned and purchased the perfect gift.  Like so much in life, what you get out of Christmas is what you are willing to put into it.
