Think about it for a moment.
From pre-sly to going sly (in many cases, shaving your head)...anyone feel that this "conversion" somewhat parallels a religious experience?
-- People that undergo conversions often want to "spread the word."
-- People that undergo conversions want to be around other "like-minded" (or in our case, like-headed) people.
-- Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged, and there can be pressure or social punishment when there is disagreement with the rules.
Naw. I'm overthinking it.
Wali, I agree, there are some strong parallels. Not quite sure I would call it as strong as a religious experience. But it is definitely "Life Changing"!!!
Chris I agree that head-shaving is a very empowering experience.
Most Asian religious servants are buzzed or shave slick bald...
it is very powerful and humbling!
We ALL know that!

We have humble people here? Who are they?

Shaving your head for the first time can be a memorable experience, but I'd classify it as anything but religious.

I think I'm pretty humble out in the real world..I mean who wouldn't be with such a great looking skinned head?!

No, I think the act is humbling in itself... because you're letting EVERYTHING go and what you have left is the inner REAL you..hiding behind NOTHING!
Empowering and somewhat spiritual, brutha!
Exactly Andre...its like stepping out into the world in your birthday suit.....LOL...saying Here I am ...take me or leave me. Most people take me though....LOL I think there are alot of similarities....but thats ok...I dont mind it. I LIKE BEING DIFFERENT.....or did you all already know that? LOL
