I've been wanting to try shave soap for awhile now and stumbled across this kit by Van Der Hagan premium shave set.It comes with Boar bristle brush,Van Der Hagan Deluxe Shave soap,cost something like $5-$6 bucks and honestly was one of the best finds ever,I've tried lots of different shave creams and I currently Use Nivea.Any of the canned stuff I've tried in noway compares .This is the closest ,smoothest shave I have ever gotten from anything on my face.Anytime nomatter what I've tried I get blade drag or some discomfort from shaving against the grain and with this method my face has never felt better to the touch.No redness or nothing just total smoothness!No more canned stuff for the face.If any of you guys have'nt tried mug shaving ,trust me you'll not want anything else.

Hey nila, I have been curious about this myself.
I was in Walgreen's today, in the shaving aisle of course, lol, and I picked up a shaving brush to check it out. I believe it was by the same maker you mentioned (Van der Hagan), and was thinking about buying it. I had read a review on a (face) shaving site about how good a shave you get because the bristles make the hairs stand up better (they say badger hair is best).
They also had a shave soap, by Williams I believe it was, and it got me thinking about possibly giving it a try one day. In the review they say that there's a certain way to apply the soap with the brush for maximum effectiveness. It would be nice to have your input on this, or anyone else who shaves with mug and brush.

The amout of water you keep in the brush when you first hit the sopa will make the lather thicker or thinner,and I kinda press the to my face where the open up a little and kinda gyrate it around until covered , I also bought the williams soap but havent tried it yet but I'll let you know when I do .Ive looked at the badger's before but to me most are more than what I wanna pay ,I was really happy with the one my kit came with ,but honestly man try it I promise you wont be disappointed .The kit I found was at wal mart ,for 5 or 6 bucks ,this site is double the price I bought my for but heres a link so you can see what it is .

On the face its the best shave I've ever had like I said ,So I tried it on the head didnt like it at all ,I'm still hands down headslick for domage.
