I?ve been shaving my head on and off for about 20 years, and I know every contour and growth pattern on my scalp. When I shave, I go against the grain with long strokes, and I?ve got the whole routine down to a science. Back of the head goes left‑to‑right, top goes front‑to‑back, and I can get a perfectly smooth dome with just a handful of precise strokes.
But have you ever had someone else shave your head who has no idea about the ?map? of your scalp? They just start shaving like they?re painting a fence. Random strokes, wrong directions, going with the grain, against the grain, diagonal etc.
I just had this happen recently, and it took twice as long with about ten times the number of strokes.
I guess everyone has their own shaving style. Same with face shaving. Some guys do a million tiny strokes, and I?m over here doing long, confident against‑the‑grain passes to keep things smooth and avoid razor burn.
What's your technique?
