shaving head with rocasea
(1/1)
baldandbrave91:
According to two dermatologists, I do in fact have rosacea which is apparently what the redness in my face is when I shave my head.
Does anyone else here who shaves their had hald deal with the same issue? And do you have suggestions? appreciate it.
slybeard:
If it is rosacea, then it is not likely due to head shaving. Maybe it is just be more visible with the shaved head.
My wife had rosacea for years. Her doctor sad there was no cure, but some treatments may reduce the affects. In here case, in addition to the redness, she would get pimples and acne. After about 10 years dealing with it, she was treated for unrelated cancer in her stomach and the initial treatment was a high dose of an antibiotic. The rosacea disappeared and has never come back.
baldandbrave91:
@slybeard I'm sorry she went through that and I'm glad she recovered. Do you think the cancer treatment is what made the rocasea vanish?
The thing that also doesn't make sense to me is that usually after a few days of head shaving the redness goes away but this time it hasn't which scares me
slybeard:
I think is was the strong antibiotics she was given. She did later have radiation for the cancer, but the rosacea was gone with the antibiotics.
However, when she had the rosacea, it would come and go frequently for no reason at all. But us never completely went away, there was always some level of redness.
