Over the Hill with the Change
« on: September 25, 2023, 10:58:59 AM »
This past weekend I realized I can’t even imagine myself with hair anymore. I even had a friend who constantly asked when I was going to grow my hair back tell me that he could not imagine me with hair anymore. I felt like for a while I was struggling with feeling different by keeping my head shaved but something changed and now I just feel like a normal bald guy. When did you guys notice that change and fully adapt to being sly?

I let my hair grow for a couple of months three years ago.  I didn’t like the way hair felt on my head and didn’t like the way it looked.  I shaved it off and haven’t looked back since.

@cmac , you have a great looking head for wearing it shaved!

It took me six months or so to decide to stay bald. I grew it back several times, but after a few weeks really missed the look and feel, so the razor would come out! Every time I went back to bald, I would look in the mirror and think it looked great, and I've always loved how a freshly shaved head feels.

Just knowing that you're BBC, you can grow your hair back anytime you want, so keep shaving and enjoy it. If you get tired of it, you have choices. Sometime I let the top grow in and keep the sides/back shaved so I have a Marine style high and tight recon! It fun to try different looks, but always go back to a smooth bald head.
Bald by choice, and loving it!

I loved the shaved look right away.  However, after the first time I shaved I grew it back. I did it out of curiosity because I was buzzing my hair so short anyway, and thought I could do this before a long weekend. I surprised myself in how much I loved it. I was also disappointed at how quickly it felt like a stubbly mess by day two. So after the first try I felt like I never got a chance to fully appreciate being sly. Several months later, I shaved again because I really just wanted to be bald headed. I loved how it looked and felt. And the sense of liberation it gave me. I never felt I needed an adjustment period. At that point, I kept it shaved for  several years before growing it out again and started getting regular haircuts. Then I started shaving again on and off and just treated my bald look as if it were a haircut choice.

Now I am just staying shaved. I’m at the point where haircuts don’t really work for me because I am thinning and I really like not having to think about my haircut choices or going to the barbers. I was also buzzing my own hair and that was kind of getting to be a nuisance. Shaving is so much easier and I don’t miss my hair and I like the smooth feel and I like the ritual of shaving every morning. Plus everyone just knows me as a bald guy.

@Razorhead it really is disappointing how fast the hair grows back. The sandpaper feeling is the worst. Everyone in my life also now knows me as the bald guy and i get all the jokes that come along with it  :*)). My new goal is to stay sly for a whole year. Hopefully i can achieve it. It must be great to lose hair while already shaving because of having less to shave.

@reddog appreciate the compliment. I really think it would be a waste of a good head to not keep it shaved. I am loving sly right now so definitely happy to stay smooth. Plus, it is hard to even go a couple days without shaving!

I remember your before photos and I have to be honest and say  that your hair just didn’t look that great on you.

You really do have the perfect head and face for a shave noggin.  Your hair was kind of a distraction now your eyes pop out when people look at you —— And you look both handsome and happy!

For us older guys, it's the easy way to get rid of the grey hair and look younger!

Bald by choice, and loving it!

For me, I think I knew almost immediately after that first shave that I was going to stay this way.
It had taken me about four or so months of worrying over it, but I was so glad I finally got up my nerve and took that first sweep with the clippers.
The smooth looks good on ya, @cmac.
