I seldom get any comments anymore. I've been growing my hair out for over 3 months, and a couple people have commented on my hair. I did have a gal friend tell me this week that she likes it shaved better. I'm really looking forward to going back to a bald head soon!

When I started shaving my head nearly fifteen years ago, there weren't that many guys who shaved their heads where I lived.  It was more common to see it in places like New York City, but less common in the suburbs.  Over time, though, shaved heads became more common to the point where it was just another hairstyle, especially on young guys with MPB.

Presently I been doing a #1 hair cut. The cold weather is delaying the use of my pit bull shaver. I have never made a full winter with a shaved head.
The bald head is so common these days. I first saved Bach in 2007 , then it took more nerve than now.

Maybe this explains the almost total lack of traffic to this site.

Personally I think it has to do more with the fact that more people have migrated from bulletin boards like this to other social media platforms.  On Reddit there is a chat called "r/bald" that has a lot of daily activity.

Yeah, r/bald is extremely popular and has numerous posts every day.

One thing that?s better about this forum is that there?s much more focus on head shaving, products, actually being bald, etc than there is on there.

That subreddit is about 60% pictures posted by guys who think they?re going bald and want reassurance. I was in that boat once too, so I sympathize, but it tends to dominate the feed there.

When I first started shaving my head around the turn of the century/millenium my (late) wife and I had a mobile espresso van and we had a route in a nearby town where we made drinks for a number of businesses. When we started this business I had hair down to my shoulder blades, usually tied back or braided. One of the businesses we delivered to was a hair salon with about 6 hair stylists (all women), and a couple of nail techs. When I shaved my head I was a little concerned about the reaction I would get, especially from this particular business, but the first day I walked in with the scraped grape one of the stylists walked right up to me and asked if I had lost weight. I told her that I had in a manner of speaking and then rubbed my head. At this point she still didn't get it which both pleased and relieved me. I finally had to tell her and she stared at my noggin for a few seconds before she got it.

Really kinda funny for someone who worked with hair for a living.

I did have a guest at a party about a year ago who could not keep from rubbing my freshly shaved head. She just loved it especially the smoothness of it. She couldn't stop talking about it  :)

On another occasion, I ran into an old neighbor that haven't seen in some time. It was at Home Depot. And she said 'I knew it was you, I'd recognize that beautiful bald head anywhere'

I love it when these things happen! Although I'm extremely comfortable with my bald head, I still welcome the praise and reassurances!  :@`

But, I agree, bald heads are everywhere. It's not like the early 2000s when two bald guys would cross paths and the approving look and nod toward each other's bald heads as part of "bald guy code". It's that subtle acknowledgement I don't see so much. Back then, the nod approval was awesome. And then maybe friendly advice like 'don't forget the sunscreen on that noggin'. Loved it.

What I like about the redidit thread is that guys just say it like it is. like 'dude you are losing your head, just shave  it and embrace it'.

What I like about it is that it simplifies the experience. It basically says, just shave it and you will be happier because you no longer have to deal with the emotions and stress of it all and no one really even cares.

There was a time I was worrying about losing my hair that I even subscribed to one of those hair restoration pill and serum services.

While I can still grow out hair on top of my head, I don't worry about losing it anymore. In fact, I like shaving it bald not just because of the look and feel, it's just way more convenient and economic for me.
