Semi, I was the same 22 years or so ago.

Anyhow, I've torn my meniscus and can't even look at the skates now. It's killing me not being able to skate. Got an appt with surgeon tomorrow to find out when, where and how much :-\

Well WATCH OUT!  I went to a surgeon five years ago with a torn meniscus and they said that they would "repair" it.  When I woke up they told me that they had REMOVED a large piece of it.  I WAS LIVID!  They looked at me incredulous that I had criticized them!  The said; well that is considered "repair" for someone you age!!!

They can repair, and even replace meniscus' now and they routinely do it for college athletes!  But they don't consider those of us over 45 to be "worth" the cost!  The doctor said; "at you age you only need to be able to drive to the grocery store and the bank anyway"!

DO NOT LET THEM "REMOVE" "CLEAN UP" "TRIM" ANY PORTION OF YOUR MENISCUS.  IF YOU DO YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.!!!!Q! I cannot kneel, I cannot run, I cannot walk a mile, I cannot even go down stairs on that knee ever since the "repair".

And within a year what was left of my meniscus was torn again!!!

I have an appointment with another knee surgeon on Monday!
