Appreciate all the advice fellas....It's amazing how spot on most of you are. I've spent many a hours standing in the bathroom with a hand held mirror examining every spot on my head. And it seems like every time I do, I find something else wrong with it. I think another thing is the anxiety about introducing the new look to friends, fam, etc...I think I'm just not looking forward to answering all the questions and looks....

Welcome Tufts..Glad you found us!
By no way is my next statement meaning to embarras you or make you feel bad.
I checked both your photos, and on the top I noticed the hairline gone in the front almost to your crown. The bottom pic I can see most of your crown,which means 50% of your hair is gone at this point. Time to shave!!
Your head shape is great, you will be able to get a awesome shave the first try. Just take your time the first couple of shaves to get the hang of the contour.
As I was told during my week of partial hair to no hair, I did the fast trim thing, your kinda getting to the creepy science teacher look. Check my colage in the before/after pics, I was beyond weird science!!
I think the biggest decision will be how you want your facial hair, whether to bring it to a thinner line, but please not like Daughtry...he looks freaky
... or grow it thicker. Keep it like you have it and make the decision after you shave, you'll understand after.
Its a hard decision to make until you do it, then you ask why you waited so long.... and it will always grow back, thats when the coin flips and you wish it wouldn't!!
And the scar... remember the bar fight when you took on 2 guys and one hit you with the chair

No worries Champ007, I appreciate the suggestions. I'm just having trouble working up the nerves to actually ante up and do it. My head shape is not as proportional as it looks in those pics (the lighting and camera both suck)...I had a minor jet ski accident when I was younger which resulted in the small scar I have near the crown. The accident also resulted in a small indentation which, I'm afraid, will stand out greatly if I shave it completely down. And from the right side, due to the bump on the right, rear side of my head...I'm pretty sure it won't look good...But what else can I do? Eventually most of my hair will be gone anyway...It's all pretty depressing as it seems I'm screwed either way...Any opinions fellas?

Once you get used to shaving on a regular basis, I don't think you will find yourself getting depressed about it. Usually the reaction is quite the opposite... euphoria about the power and control you now have over your situation -- no more worrying about trying to cover up the obvious balding. You have better things to do with your life than waste it worrying about your MPB. Most people couldn't give a flying flip about your follicular-challenged head; they are too wrapped up in their own problems. Most of the anxiety you have will fly out the window. The only thing you may obsess over is how you possibly could have missed that one spot, and now you are only 99% smooth. Let us know how your decision process goes, and let us know about any other questions you might have. (Boy, I sure am chatty tonight -- I'm sure the coffee has nothing to do with it...
)

Hey tuft, check out Boostd4's intro. He talks about how he thought his crown was huge by touch, but when he shaved it, it looked fine. I'm sure you'll find the same with your scar and indentation. Either way, getting those in a jet ski accident can be a great conversation piece to show how "dangerous" you are.

Tuft all my sly bros have covered every possible angle...Best advice that I can give you.
Do it...Shave your head slick bald...Give it the 30day trial period...If you dont like it and want to grow it back then I will personally send you a check for $20. -

Shaving it is all about losing those anxieties that you've mentioned. You worry now about your hair & head shape etc, but once you've shaved it all those things will hopefully become non-issues to you It's like you're putting yourself out there, saying here I am - take it or leave it .... no more pretense, no more anxieties .... this is who I am .... if people don't like it ... it's their problem, not yours! That's where the empowerment lies ....

go for it! I can't imagine being any other way. I looked just like you about a year ago, now I could not be happier. Go for it, and post a pic after your done we will all give you an honest opinion!!
