how do you guys shave the back of your heads?
« on: March 04, 2015, 11:16:26 AM »
I've been shaving my head for years but always with two mirrors.  That is no longer an option for me and I just kind of wing it.  I prefer to rinse after every stroke and after I'm done there are so many missed spots back there; its very frustrating.  Any tips?  Thanks.

I shave in the shower.  I have a mirror that I use to shave my neck and face around my beard and around my ears but the back I just shave by feel.  Razor in one hand and use the other to feel for un shaved areas and pull the skin tight.

Another shower shaver.  I go against the grain and follow the same pattern.  I first shave the top from front to back, then start on my left side and shaw upwards, al of the way arond to my right side.  I use the fell method to make sure I did not miss anything bau over time I usually do not.  I do have a shower mirror I use to make sure I don't cut my ears off or cut into my beard, but the back is totally by feel.

Another shower shaver here. Like the two gentlemen before me, the shower mirror is used only the get around my goat and mustache. After that, it is finger tips to find whatever stubble my razor might miss.

I shave against the grain starting at the base of the neck (where it meets my shoulders) and shave up in short swipes rinsing the blade off after every three or so. I often have to pull the skin taught from the top of my dome in order to get really smooth.

When I shave, it is after shower in front of the mirror, but the back is just by feel, against the grain.

Like most of the others, in the shower by feel, though there gets less missed bits to find by feel as I become more acquainted with the back of my  head and the directions i need to go.

I don't normally shave in the shower, but I also shave the back exclusively by feel.

Yet another shower shaver......depending on how much time ive got to shave i can shave my head in the shower with the headblade by feel in around five minutes. Although yesterday the water got cold and I began to rush and earned an impressive line of cuts from each and every blade in the headblade :-\  If i have more time i'll grab a DE and shave with a mirror.

Exclusively by feel.  But occasionally, I won't feel the soft hair way low in the back, and later in the day will realize that I missed some, so either do a touch up, or next day, make a point of going low enough to catch that hair, too.  My hair down that low is pretty blonde, so it does not show up, but I can feel it if I miss it for a few days.

I do it by feel, but I check with a mirror afterwards. Lucky for me, my neck hair is thinning along with the horseshoe, so there isn't too much to miss anyway.

I use the mirror for the edges of my beard then shave by feel. I hope in the shower after and the water really seems to find the missed spots when I run my hand over my head. I keep a second razor in the shower for thease spots.
