Sport or ATX?
ATX, not that I am terribly sure what the difference is really.

Smoothness comes with experience. It will come, Mike.

Today was one of my best shaves, but also my worst as I cut myself

Nice going Mike. The cuts will still happen from time to time. Been shaving my head for over a year now and yesterday cut myself pretty badly on the back of my neck due to some carelessness. Sometimes in rush, I get heavy handed and forget to be gentle.

I used to cut or nick myself frequently when i shaved with a DE. Now, using a Mach 3 i get almost 99% clean shaves without nicks or cuts! (Bet i will cut myself after saying that!)

What do you do when you cut yourself ie do you put off shaving for a day or 2? I'd welcome advice from seasoned shavers

No not necessarily, depends on how bad the cut is. I did put off shaving this morning but that was more out of laziness and running late for work.
Believe it or not, this is only the second time I've cut myself in the 15 months I've been shaving my head. I've had slight minor nicks here and there, and I've been able to shave the very next day with no problem.

Alum block is great for small nicks.

I'll have to get one from somewhere, are they easy to buy in chemists or is it easier online?
