Just wanted to introduce myself. I started as an off and on Sly guy in 2006. The reactions I got when I first shaved the dome were pretty mixed. At the time, my hair was receding. It was noticeable, but not drastic. My wife and some buddies were shocked, saying "What would you do that for?" Because of those reactions, I went back and forth between shaving and growing my hair out. Five years ago, I went Sly once and for all, and I couldn't be happier. My wife's okay with it now, as my receding hairline has only gotten worse. I'm now somewhere between a Norwood 5 & 6.
Why do I keep it Sly? 1) I'm going bald anyway. 2) I love the convenience, look and feel. 3) I love never having to go to the barbershop. 4) I love saving the money. 5) Previously, I've had to have three fatty cysts surgically removed from my head, and my doctor recommended shaving as a way to prevent them in the future. I haven't had one since! 6) I think we as a society place far too much importance on the way someone looks, and we fail to focus on what's really important: THE PERSON. I guess shaving is a way for me to make a confident statement that it's what's inside of a person that really counts.
I've had the usual concerns about head shape, etc. But what can I do about that? I'm very happily bald.

Hi Bob, nice to see you here. Very well said. I have struggled with whether or not to grow my hair back, as I'm BBC. I can never get past 4 or 5 weeks, and I shave my head again. I get some scalp dermatitis within about 4 or 5 days of growing, but it disappears if I shave daily. I have come to the decision that I love how a shaved head looks on me and others. I also thoroughly enjoy my morning shave with a DE razor and brush/soap. I'll be sly in the foreseeable future.

Welcome, Bob! We definitely place too much emphasis on how people look. Having said that, sly and clean shaven looks good on you.

Welcome, Bob. You look really good with a totally clean scalp. I'm partial to beards, but your face goes well with a slick-bald head. Glad you joined us!

Great introduction. I recognised and identified with all 6 (apart from the skin blemishes) points you made re going bald. Does wonders for your confidence. Like EarlBald I am partial to beards with a bald head but the totally clean look suits you well.
