My first tattoo

Yep, Sir Harry. You only live once. Which is I now wear a septum piece now, hanging from the nose to compliment the handlebar moustache. When in the office, I flip this horseshoe into nose, so nobody can see. Really like it.

Looks good!  One is definitely never enough.  I started with one and now have them on my arms and on my chest and planning for more!

Can I ask what the catalyst was that made you get it?  Always wanted one, live changing event, etc?

I know for me, I had always wanted one but the ex-wife wasn't having it.  So when we separated at 25, I said, "F" it!  I'm getting a tattoo.  So it was basically a turning point in my life, a restart to do the things that make me happy.  And as I mentioned I've continued to get more and now have my chest tattooed as well.

I think it is just a case of as you get older you have the courage to do what you want to do and worry less about what others might think

Until recently, I thought that tattoos were hideous. Thought they were vulgar and hated the thought of doing something as permanent as that.

Then a few friends had them and they were happy with the results. Knowing my life long interest in trains and Japan, another friend came up with an idea of a tattoo for me. It's a great design, and then I found myself bitten.

I guess the other thing is a general change in my appearance. First the shaved head, then the beard, the some piercings (5 now), then a handlebar moustache and finally the tattoo.

Mid life crisis ? Very probably. Something new and exciting ? Certainly !

Great point!  Our lives our in a contact state of change and so why not do something new and exciting...Good on you mate!

Wow Mr. Jules; you are starting to scare us.  Next you'll be telling us that you are going to try other forms of body mod's as well!  Is this what comes of shaving your head?  Is shaving a "gateway" activity?  Ha Ha!

Shaving your head is the gateway.

Once you shave your head and give yourself a completely new "you", anything is possible.

You only live once!  Sometimes the biggest risk gets the biggest reward.  Take shaving out heads for example, for many that's a big risk.  We question how it's gonna look, will I have the right head for it, what will by friends say, etc.  But we take the plunge, and all is well and we are glad that we did. 

Take the risk, do what makes you happy and I'm sure you won't regret it!
