Breakouts?
« on: September 17, 2014, 02:58:37 PM »
Do any of you seem to get more breakouts the longer you wait to shave again?  I had some irritation so i decided to give my scalp an extra day to calm down, I'll usually shave every other day. I'm going on day three now and it seems like i have more pimple looking breakouts today than i did yesterday  ???. I wash my head every day use an oil free lotion and change my pillow case frequently. Not sure what to do? The original redness and irritation has just about gone, would any of you continue to just shave or should i let everything clear up completely and then just start off again with clippers in several days?
And i apologize for the long winded paragraph

I wouldnt use anything to wash your head except water. Keep all other products away from your skin.

A picture is worth a thousand words , let see what it looks like. Then we can better judge. Could be ingrowns or irritation or other problem.

I pretty much agree with the comments from goatee about not using anything but water.  I had a problem at first and I purchased Bee Bald Heal and it cleared up all of my issues in a week and I never had to skip a day of shaving.  I also use after the heal, Bee Bald Smooth.
I have to keep a supply on hand to get my skin in top shape, since I have to shave daily.  I also have to lather up three times to get a real close shave.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Could be a lot of things.

If you're using cartridge razors and have fast growing hair, then waiting a day or two between shaves can actually be counterproductive.  The blades clog easier, so you're effectively dragging the cut hairs across your skin, further irritating things.

However, back when I was using cartridges, I found that skipping a day was essential for going ATG, so it also depends on which direction you typically shave.

Thank you guys for all of the responses and advice.  I will look into the the bee bald heal if I can't get it under control with using fewer "products" I'm sure that I have over done it I'm just desperate to get a nice clean looking head. I've been using the headblade atx and a Mach 3 to clean up around the ears. I would like to start using a de razor to shave
Thank you again and I'll see if I can manage to get a picture of the back of my head up a little later
