BBC sly guys reactions
« on: August 22, 2014, 07:27:16 PM »
So I don't think I worded my question right before I as just asking what the reaction from for ends and family was when you went sly even when you had a full head of hair I was asking since I'm going sly for Halloween and planning if I like it to keep it

I got overwhelming approval from almost everyone. Only a couple people couldn't understand why I would shave off a full head of hair. I'm sure there were a few that didn't like it, but they kept that to themselves.

Nothing negative ... most didn't care.

It was the right choice then and still is. My company ID has the old "hairy" picture and when people see that they agree I am much better with the clean scalp. Without exception.

I knew from Day One I wouldn't go back to having hair even though I can. For me, it's just another haircut - one which suits me better than any of the others.

I only did it yesterday and the reactions are mostly positive with an element of shock!

With me, most people didn't bother to comment which I take as a sign they didn't really care. Of all the people who did comment, only two expressed disapproval. A few people wanted to know why I shaved it all off and one asked if I lost a bet. The vast majority of the comments were positive, though.
Hair is over rated.

In my case I had mainly positive comments about how much younger and smarter I looked. Only 3 people made negative comments about my change of hairstyle and I think they were shocked at the time. Now no-one I know makes comments about my baldness. I am also Bald By Choice and can't see myself growing my hair back any time soon. It was thinning rapidly when I first started to shave so would find I have less coverage and more grey hairs now, no thanks!

When I shaved my head for the first time most people did not care. At that time my beard was trimmed very short. It changed completely when I started to sport a full bushy beard. People ask me why I do prefer the bald and beard combo although I could still have a full head of hair.

I found people were, for the most part, supportive and/or indifferent.

Reactions at first were minimal.

Later on as co workers got used to it, they have tossed some jokes about it, but I carry the confidence that this is a good look and these jokes just bounce off.  I turn them around and challenge them to shave their heads. Give them a SBG business card (available elsewhere on this site).

My mom's reaction when she first saw me was a stunned silence followed by, "You probably will want to grow it back." My dad told her to be quiet and that he had thought about doing it as well, but no longer had the dexterity for a razor. Hers was the only negative - except for my son who thought my shaved dome was incredibly hilarious that first afternoon.

Like the other gentlemen here, the reactions I received were mostly indifference with several positives. One woman with whom I had been working closely on a project at the office did not even notice the change for almost a week.

Cave Dweller, I'm sure your dad would have looked good sly if he would have wanted to go that route. As for me, I guess it was mostly a non-issue because it was pretty common in the places where I worked, lived and played.
