DE Shopping...!
« on: May 02, 2014, 02:32:33 PM »
Ok so now that I am fully committed to the DE life, I've decided to expand my "armory" a bit and try a different razor or two.  Nothing extravagant, just different.  Trying to keep my budget at no more than $35-40 per razor.  Any recommendations?

So far I've checked out classicshaving dot com.  They seem to have a pretty decent selection and price range.  Anyone have any experience using them?  Any other places worth checking out?

Thanks in advance!

I've gotten a few higher end razors on eBay for reasonable prices.

I would go with an Edwin Jagger 89L aka EJ89L.  It is a beautiful chrome razor made from England.  This is one of my favorite vendors:  BullGooseShaving.  Phil from BullGoose Shaving is a true gentleman that provides excellent service.

The EJ89L was my very 1st modern day DE razor that I started with.  You cannot go wrong with this razor. Keep us posted on your decision.

@Wutwutman:  Here is a great you tube video by GeoFatboy.  This is the Edwin Jagger 89L razor that I was talking about.  It looks better in person.  Hope you enjoy the video.

Have you checked out any of the Parker Razors?  They're reasonably priced and fall within the budget.

Italian Barber has some nice Razorock branded razors.  Well made and at great prices.

Also, check out Connaughtshaving.com

I know from experience that they offer great service, and despite being based in the UK, their prices including shipping worldwide are often still better than a lot of other stateside companies.

@WWM:  I am so glad that you are enjoying your safety razor journey.  I know I am.  I cannot wait to see the pics.  Glad to know there is another SBG enjoying the traditional way of shaving and sharing it with the forum.

@Warhawk - I am sir, indeed I am lol  It's fast becoming an addiction!  I definitely want to try more razors and I love the history behind vintage ones.  This "hobby" opens up so many choices.. trying not to let myself over do it LOL  I tend to be an impulse buyer a bit  :*))
