I find this whole before and after period pretty useless. Just as you need to grow into the look, so do the people around you. Even if they think you looked better before, that doesn't mean they won't adjust and come to think that you ALSO look good with a bald head. Let Time work it's magic and see how things are a bit later on. SLybeard nailed it in his comment.
