I don't know if this has been posted before but I thought I'd throw it out there if not (apologies if it's a dupe!):
http://amzn.to/1rBH8o9I had mixed feelings about this. It looked like a really neat product and I really wanted to try it. So I ponied up and bought one.
First of all, the drawbacks:
The charger takes a long time to charge the unit and the LED for the charging/full indicator is on the power supply itself. It's a little awkward to hold at first and the power button is on the base, where you easily turn it back on if you bump it. The 'neck' feels a little flimsy if you pick it up and the plastic cover for the blades doesn't snap on too well. It also doesn't shave anywhere near close as a blade or even my electric shaver.
Now, the positives:
It does do a pretty good job - especially when you might have an additional day's growth and want to shorten it up - of getting your hair respectably short. It does help when you want to lessen the stress of shaving with a blade and your hair is a tad longer or you're in a hurry and don't have time/resources for a full wet shave. It also is comfortable to use, the heads pivot and contour so you can rub it all over your head, although the sideburn area/front of the ears is a little tricky. If you go too fast it won't work as well, and I have found that using it in a circular motion is the most effective. It's especially nice cutting down the areas where the hair is the thickest. It's also good for a prepping your head before a luxurious wet shave down to the skin.
The battery life seems really decent and it holds a charge for a long period of time - although there is no indicator on the unit to indicate how much battery is left. The pivoting 'neck' is a nice feature in helping the heads contour to your noggin.
Overall, I would say it's a nice addition to your grooming 'wardrobe' - not an absolute necessity of course, but a nice addition. If you're thinking about getting one it's a nice little unit, it travels pretty well (save the box it comes in though!) and is small and compact. Holding the battery unit takes a little getting used to, but it does have grooves for your fingers (a nice touch) and the battery stays cool even after a few minutes of use. It is not water friendly though so you have to be careful cleaning it and you can't use it in the shower.
A nice little package which really is handy in a pinch. If you want to give it a try, I suggest you do. If you own one or have used one, post a reply and let us all know what you think... after all their are smart and worldy guys - and gals - out there who know lots of great info!
