Need some Information about Boston area
« on: July 23, 2007, 10:10:09 AM »
Hey guys.  I am planning a surprise trip for my son to Fenway in September.  We have some tickets to the REd Sox game and need some help.

I hear parking is horrific in Boston.  We will be in town probably 3 days.  Our main focus will be Fenway Park for 2 games.  However, I would like to catch a few sites while we are in town.

Can anybody give me some tips on lodging within a reasonable distance of Fenway.  Can't afford the 5 star jobs but still don't want to stay in a dump.  Also, would like to know the best way to get to and from the games as well as some of the local sites.  Is there good local transit, etc.  I have been to Travelocity and related sites but am a little confused.  One hotel will have 3 good reviews and 2 bad ones.  You just never know what you are getting.

I would appreciate any information you can provide.  My son is 10 years old and a Red Sox nut.  He told his mom a few weeks ago that he thought going to Fenway would be the best thing in his life.  What's ironic, he has no idea that we have the tickets or are planning this trip.

Please help me.  Thanks in advance.

That's awesome Steve!!  Man, you're kid is going to be excited!

As for Boston, it's one of the few major cities I haven't been to.  But, I do know that you can use Orbitz.com and Hotwire.com to find some great deals on hotels and they let you choose the area that you want to be in.

STEVE,

Boston is a great time. As far as transportation, you can get on the subway, I think its the T, it will take you anywhere. I stayed at a hotel not too far from the airport, and we caught a cab to the subway. There is a college vibe in most areas, and a market and square with stuff to do on the weekends. Also a couple of decent bars near the Garden.

Hey Steve,

When you get to to Boston I will hook you up for some free pool at Boston Billiards which is right near Fenway. As a fellow Bald Guy it's the least I can do to make the little guys trip fun. Send me an Email witrh the dates. If you are there for the Bald Guyz 8 Ball Challenge it could be cool!

As for a hotel I think there is a Fairfield Inn inthe area which is affordable.

Ya might check for a Embassy Suites Hotel.

Reasonable rates plus FREE Breakfast Buffet...

PLUS FREE DRINKS from 5:30 to 7:30 every night of the week.

If the FREE stuff is an enticement, call ahead and make sure....but as far as I know...Embassy Suites does it all over the U.S.

Thanks for the invite.  It looks like it will be sometime in September.  When is the 8 Ball Challenge.  I heard Youkilus was involved.  Is that right?
