I'm a fan of Oriental and Kanji characters. I have a Japanese friend who is all the time getting asked by people to translate words in Japanese Kanji so they can get it tattooed.
One thing I found out from him is that he went into a well known tattoo studio here in Sydney and there was a Chinese and Japanese flash book and about 1/2 of the symbols in there were completley wrong or severley badly translated.
He mentioned 1 particular symbol which in the book meant "Perserverance" but due to 3 large cross strokes that were not in the symbol, The real translation had someone gotten this Symbol would be "Mud-Bricked building"
