Hi there
I'm a member on the site since a while and was only reading the posts. Now I decided to also be part of the site and join it as an more active member.
I am 27, from Switzerland and shaved my head already 4-5 times, but only on holidays. Normally I wear a high n tight or flattop. But I m still not sure if thebald head really fits me, my family doesnt understand that someone can be bald by choice. So I havent had the courage yet to be bald for a longer time.
What is more, I m not sure if my headshape looks good. In a certain angle it looks like there is a bunp on the backhead. But I guess I just should give it a go and do what is right for me.
Looking forward to some good talks and discussions in the forum.
Bruce

Welcome. Looks very natural. Don't think we've had anyone from Switzerland before.

What movie or stage play do you star in? First glance at your profile picture ... this guy is quite handsome. Perfect head shave. Really pulls off the BBC look. Add a T shirt and you look like Vin Deisel.
I'm BBC and just a few years your senior. Well, a little more than double your age, but anyway, you look good in the picture. So from another fellow who is BBC, I think the best part is the smooth feeling each morning after the shave. You can't get that with a buzz or flat top. The family may not understand the joy of a smooth head, but if you need a reason to explain, that's one.
Around here, there are quite a few young men who shave their heads, BBC. I see many SLY guys every day. I hope I can encourage you. At 60, I don't need to shave my head as a fashion statement or anything. I just really like the bald head feel.

Welcome Bruce! Glad to have your voice with us!
I will say I didn't think my "head shape" would work either, but I finally had enough of cutting shorter and shorter so I whisked it off and lo and behold, it actually looked good. I think your head is a great shape for the sly look.
Don't fret over "imperfections" too much, we all have them. But when you see the Sun/light shining off your glistening dome, and the feel of the smooth, clean scalp, you'll throw away the shampoo and cancel your barber/hair salon appointments.
As many will say, give it 30 days sly, to see how you like it. That will give you a much better idea how you will feel and give people plenty of time to see the 'new you.'
Don't fret over the family too much, mine don't get why I do it either (except my brother) - but having no hair by choice is a lot better than watching Mother Nature make it go down the drain, never to return...
Good luck - hope to see you around the forum!

I'm also BBC, and I just told people that questioned why I would want to shave my head, I liked how it looks and feels.
Not sure if it is the same where you are, but around here(Minnesota) there are so many sly guys, that it is clear that a shaved head is just another hairstyle. And widely accepted.

Welcome, Bruce! You look great sly....As far as others, give them time and they will get used to it....after a while it will be no big deal. (that is if you want to stay bald long term or for good).

I tell people who don't understand that it's part hereditary and part voluntary! Approach all situations with humor. When I meet a sly guy on the street, I usually ask if they had a "bad Weedeater accident, too?". Then I say, "Them things'll kick back on ya like a chainsaw! I finally stopped taping down the trigger!" We both have a laugh, and I've made a new friend.

Hello Bruce
Dont worry, your head has a perfect shape for the smooth bald look! You look great the way you feel is right for you! If you get bored, you can always let hair grow back (for your relatifs, friends and perhaps your Job). But if you feel great and you enjoy the bald smooth look and feel, then dont worry....it is YOUR head and you do what makes YOU happy.
Have a nice smooth week!

You're a good looking guy, you have a good headshape.
The question I have is why do you want to be bald? Has doing it quenched your thirst? Why do you want to keep it?
Because at the end of the day if you don't feel confident, or you don't like it's a hair cut you can grow out.
if you do like it then tell your family you enjoy having no hair and it's the look that works for you. They probably won't go on about it too much. Saying that my mother still wants me to have hair but it ain;t coming back so she's out of luck, and actulaly so am i!

What is the longest period of time you've stayed bald? It is really important to keep shaving for 30 days to allow yourself and others around you to get used to the new look. I went back and forth a number of times, as you have. And each time I had regrets when the hair was grown back in. Finally I decided to stick it out for 30 days no matter what. When the 30 days were up, I decided to extend it for another 90 and before I knew it I was at the six month mark. I let it grow back for about a week once after that when I was sick and found that there wasn't much regrowth on top, so out came the razor again. I'm getting close to the 10 year mark now.
There is a reason you keep going back to the bald look. You owe it to yourself to stay bald for a while, to see if you like it. I think deep down I knew that I would really like it if I stayed bald and I think that is what I was most afraid of -- making that big change. But it is one of the best things I ever did for myself.
Your avatar photo looks great. It would be a shame to deny yourself the chance to be a bald guy, even if it is only for a couple of months.

Hey guys! Thanks for the encouragement and the nice words! I really feel welcome in the sly community! It feels very good to get this support and I'm really motivated to go bald again.
I have to add that I have a full head of hair. I don't know if I will balding, the hairline is a bit receeding, but not much and if so I wouldn't mind

The longest period of time I was shaved bald was about one week and this was on holiday. And as I tried to shave it smooth after two days again I cut myself a bit and it burned. But I think the skin would get used to it after some time.
Why I wan't to be bald? I love the look and the smooth feeling. I guess it also is a turn on. And you are right it is a big change, but I owe it to myself to experience this feeling being bald. And about the headshape, I already shave the back n sides, so it's actually not big step. But still, it has to be done.
