Can skinny and youthful guys look good bald?

I'm 19, already diagnosed with MPH. It isn't noticeable yet, I have no idea of what time frame it will take... but the thing is, I can't be bothered to stress over it. I've seen those 'hair loss help' forums, with guys posting silly snaps of their hair line, and worrying about how well their little red pills are working (Isn't it so ironic that people take Propecia in order to be more attractive so they have a better chance of sex... and then.)
So that's why I want to be shaved bald. I want that weight off me, I've not got a bad life and I intend to get on with it. The trouble is, I'm not what you'd call a 'macho' guy. I've been called attractive before, but I'm gay, bookish and very skinny. I don't think that's a look that suits a bald guy. Having said that, I have found a few guys who are not macho looking, but who still look good bald. Anyone heard of Brian Friedman?

I'm willing to bulk up a bit to avoid looking like Gollum. But even with that taken care of, I won't be able to grow much facial hair, and I'm not sure my general personality would fit a skinhead. Also, I have very prominent cheekbones and my face structure in general is quite unusual. A bald head would emphasis these features, but in a good or bad way?
I'm willing to take the most brutal opinions from you guys, as long as it is honest and constructive!

I have large cheekbones which gives a bald head a great facial structure so go for it !

Think of SBG as a 'hair loss forum'. We encourage you in how to deal with hair loss. Embrace it. Give it a nudge. Just shave it off before it looks horrible and other are wishing that you would do it.
Hang around a bit. Notice how good a guy with bald head looks. If you need more photo examples, search in google images for bald men. They all look good.

Welcome, Aspiring.
We come in all shapes and sizes. Smooth is not limited to looking good on just one type of guy.
If you want to shave it off, then go ahead. The only way to know for sure if you will like it is just to do it. And if you don't, it grows back.

Welcome Aspiring!
Well, I can tell you I am very similar to you so I can say that the answer is a pretty definite yes!
Take the plunge if that is what you want to persue and let the feeling take you to where you want to be. Maybe you'll not care for it, etc. in which case you can let it regrow.
I *really* wanted to shave my head when I moved out of my parent's house many years ago and I chickened out (my hair loss was not as prominent back then), going with a #2 buzz cut instead. I wish I had, even temporarily. But then the Internet was very sparse, expensive and there was certainly no SBG!
If you really want to shave it, do it. There's nothing wrong with saying "I wanted to try it and see what it was like" to others. If you decide to keep it sly people will forget the "haired" you and cope with the real you.
I strongly doubt you'll look like Gollum unless you've spent many, many years under a mountain eating raw fish and lusting after a shiny trinket...
Good luck, sir and let us know how you make out. That's what SBG is here for - support and encouragement!

firstly don't measure yourself against other because you're onto a losing streak! Be yourself and be happy in yourself. Brian Freidman look so much better now he has embraced his hairline than the hair he had before
Another young guys is Jonjo Shelvey, 21 and bald. ok, a footballer and might not be the bookish person you had in mind but I think he shows young balding guys that embrace the look are much better off
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonjo_Shelvey
Compare Jonjo to Wayne Rrooney who has had two hair transplants;
http://i4.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article880861.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Wayne%20Rooney's%20new%20haircut-880861.jpg
I think Wayne looks terrible conpaired to Jonjo
You have an advantage being gay, because in the gay 'community' bald is quite common (for somne reason) and a lot of guys are into shaved heads, not sure why but it's very much the case.
You could take your hair down bit by bit by clippers, get yourself and others used to it. However as it's not noticable you really don't need to worry, enjoy your hair, style it and make the most of it and cross the shaving bridge when you come to it. Because if you do shave it down, you migth find your hairline is MORE noticeable unless you go completely bald

Thanks for the support, I agree that buzz cuts can make receding hairlines more noticeable. My doctor said I'd lost more hair from the crown but I honestly can't see the difference in photographs.
Although I should tell you, I'm from the red side Manchester, so I do feel obligated to defend Rooney against a former Scouser!
