That makes sense. Standard ear piercing takes 6-8 weeks before you're supposed to change out your jewelery. I found it was OK at 6 weeks, but still a little tender on the inside.  By 8 weeks, I could change easily.

I' d wanted to pierce my left ear since I was a kid, but never did it. I had a very young face and a lot of blond hair and I figured I'd look like a girl. Well, not such a young face now and no more hair.

With a little bit of encouragement from Mr. Zed, I had it pierced last week. My daughter came with me. She thought I was joking. We separated a bit and when we met up, it was done. She was quite surprised. My wife laughed and contributes it to a mid life crisis. However, I didn't do it to feel young, I did it because I wanted to. And I do like it, although it brings attention to my enormous ears!

If this is a mid-life crisis - I'll take a crisis!

@Mike E P, it looks as good with your bald head.  Dome and ear piercing are equally shiny!

Congratulations. Fulfillment of a long time wish.

Congratulations Mike,

I think there comes a point when we realize it's time to fulfill some personal wants and have the character/courage to own the decision.

Well done.

I am relieved to learn that piercing your ear is a sign of a mid life crisis. Since in your pictures you appear to be a jaded 35-40 that resonates with me. I just had my nipples pierced and I won't see 70 again. Following this skewed logic, I'm just barely past a mid life crisis so it will be okay if I buy a BMW and grow a strip of hair down the middle of my head as a sort of Mohawk. Looking back, I don't remember when or if I had a mid life crisis. Perhaps I was too busy and have delayed it until now....

Congrats Mike on following through with it...Are you going to wear it to school, or is that against the dress code?

I'm not exactly sure what a mid life crisis is. At 50, I guess I qualify. If wishing you were 25 again is a mid life crisis, then I am constantly in one ...

Harry, I never thought to check the dress code. The district is a stickler for jeans and sneakers, but I'm not sure about an earring for males. I would think it's okay. Some of the boys wear them. Having said that, I'm not so sure how our Central Office people will feel about it. I get a lot of comments about my bow ties and colored socks so I  figure they will just think this is just another piece of my dress.

I dont think it is a mid life crisis I think you just reach a certain age and you stop worrying about what others might think and gain the confidence to do what you want to do. Congrats Mike EP

How ties, colored socks and an earring. Sounds likes a winning combination to me! Congratulations, btw.

Roger,

We are on summer break. The school is open and the principal is there, but I try to stay away. I don't have to go back until August 20th for a department meeting, then I think we are back for good on the 24th.

Mike, my principal is pretty tough. She may call me in for a good paddling!  >:D

Re: thinking of getting an ear piercing 1 year Anniversary

It's been 1 year since I had my ear pierced.

I still like it. I've not gone an hour without something in there.  Just a minute or two each morning to change out the stud.  To celebrate, I'm wearing the original stud today.
