thanks for this site
« on: July 19, 2013, 02:21:11 AM »
Just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to the crew for this site. It's really positive and great. I'm dealing with many of the issues many guys on here have faced down. Teased at school for a big forehead (oh, the hilarity!) > then cultivating and identifying with a thick mane of curly hair (encouraged to fall forward) that would disguise what I came to believe was the most monstrous forehead in the southern hemisphere > that hair becoming my 'look', compounding a deep seated fear of its unthinkable departure > then the dreaded thinning, leading to the tipping point > wrestling with perspective, old enough to know better, and intensely grateful for all the good things in life > but still that nauseating fear > compounded by an obsession with checking everyone's head/hairline/head shape out > going round and round in circles > ye gods, it's exhausting!
I don't think I'm ready to take the plunge yet, but I wanted to say that until coming to this site (thanks google 'huge-forehead-hair-loss or something) the idea of going the sly route was simply unthinkable to me. Now it's thinkable. Terrifying (forehead issues! self loathing! BDD alert!), but thinkable.
cheers and thanks.

I think you are nearly there.  Go for it and say 'why didn't I do this sooner'.

Agree, you're almost there. Once you get the idea to shave your head, the itch to do so does not go away until you do it. Then you discover how nice it is and you don't want to go back to hair.  You look back and wonder what the issue was.

I agree with nuts and mrzed! Once that idea of shaving it bald comes it's gonna stick until you're in the bathroom shaving it Haha! I did the same thing, I have a full head of thick hair and I decided i'm gonna shave my head and I couldn't stop thinking until I found myself taking my Wahl Balding Clipper right down the middle of my head and then lathering up! Hope my story helped bud!

You have a great headshape! I don't know how bald you are, but going sly will sure save you some money on do-rags, IMO.

Honestly, I don´t think you´ve got a big forehead! I think mine´s bigger, and I´ve never given it a thought! Shave away or buzz-cut. You won´t look back.

Welcome.

I'm bald by choice so I don't think I fully understand yet what others are going through with MPB. I think I was beginning to thin a little on top and this may have influenced my final decision subconsciously

What I will say, and have said in other posts. This is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. Honestly the way I feel and the way I look is a positive thing.

Give bald a go my friend, start your 30 days. there are no guarantees in life only choices. Choose to go bald, choose a bolder stronger look and feel.

If it doesnt work out for you choose to go with a nice buzz cut you'll still look and feel great and project an air of confidence.
