Need to shave head but worried about stork bite

Hi,
I've been a lurker for a little while and I don't see this question/problem mentioned much. First of all, I'm 28 and am at the point where I need to shave my head. I am using too many products and it is taking too much time trying to hang on to what I have left.
My first concern is that I have a larger than normal head. I actually have a longer type face but wear a size 7 3/4 hat. This is something that I obviously can't do much about so I'm just going to have to hope for the best.
The other concern I have is that I can see on the bottom of the back of my neck, where my hair stops, I can see a couple light red splotches, which is something called Stork Bite. It's a type of birthmark and I've had it since I was a kid. I'm not really worried about the little splotches on the back of my neck because they aren't that noticeable. However, when I move my hands through my hair on the back of my head while using a mirror, it looks like I can see even darker red Stork Bite further up my head, just about at the top back of my head (pretty far up), where my thinning hair starts. It's hard to tell how much is there because I still have hair over most of that part, but I'm afraid that if I shave my head I'm going to have these horrible looking red splotches all over the back of my head and it's going to look like I have a disease.
Has anyone else had a problem with this and found a solution? Thanks very much.

Welcome! Believe it or not, we were all discussing this recently in another thread. It's actually commonplace among many members here, but it didn't deter them from shaving, and they still look good. I don't have a stork bite, but I have some bruises on the back of my head that are slowly fading thanks to bleaching cream. If the birthmark is that big of an issue (it shouldn't be), see a dermatologist about some bleaching cream that could make it fade some. Anyways, welcome, glad to have you on board, and post a picture if/when you can!

Worry not. There are MANY of us here rockin' it sly with stork bites? Not to mention there are several of us on the board have other birthmarks or moles. Just go forth and keep it slide. The first two times of course be very careful in case you have a mole or something you could slice off. The scalp is very vascular

I think just about all of us have something about our heads that we wish we could change.
Don't sweat it. If they are there, people will see them as as just another aspect of you - like your Sly head.

I'd say this would be a good reason to shave to see what you really have going on. If you shave and you see something your worried about, then see a dermatologist. If it's just a stork bite, then there's nothing to worry about.

I had a college professor with a stork bite that went from his nose to the ear on one side of his face.
He was the nicest gentleman you could want. Stork bite is not the end of the world. Just your unique identifier.
A bald head is also a unique identifier. Wear them both with enthusiasm. As you read here on SBG, there are lots of guys who complain about a 'big head'. I wear 7 7/8 th. That's just me. I have a large skull. Hard to find hats the fit, and for sure, the ONE SIZE FITS ALL, is a joke. They DON'T fit!
So, I shave my head bald, and don't wear a cap. Use sunscreen for the summer and a knit cap that stretches in the winter, if I'm going to be out for awhile. If just a short trip outside, then I just go bald. My head is always very warm and cold is not an issue.
Enjoy being or becoming bald. By choice or by nature. It's a great hairstyle.

Here you can see the post :
http://www2.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=21535.0Like all friends here say, dont worry about anything, you are unique just like your birthmark is

I call it "The tattoo from God" because God picked it up for me when i was born

You can see a picture of it also and you can share your picture too (if you feel like doing that)
