John's intro
« on: June 26, 2007, 02:54:45 PM »
Hey guys; as you all know, I've been in this forum for a while; but as a 'fence-sitter'.  So, i thought I'd write an "official" introduction.  I've been trying to find a pic I like that 1) is in focus, and 2); gives a better idea of what I look like in "real life" i.e., glasses et. al.   My buzz cuts have been getting shorter and shorter.  So much so, that even my wife seems pretty reconcilled to the idea !   So what's keeping me back?  I guess lack of self confidence that I can pull off such an 'extreme' look.  and extreme it is.  I've really run the gammut in my life; from middle-of the -back long hair (with beard) to close-cropped, to flattops, and buzz cuts.  It really seems that this is the time of my life to 'take it all off' ... besides; then I can say i've done it all.

Cheers,
John

I am also a fence-sitter at the moment, but I plan to try BBC at the end of July.

When looking at you pic, I must say that you are virtually there now with that close of a buzz.  I recommend taking the last step and trying it out.  One option is you could do what I am doing and take a week vacation.  Shave your head on the Friday night beginning the vacation and by the time you get back it'll be the length it is now (or longer).  If you like it however, you have a week to learn to shave it and get used to the look before returning to work.

Good luck.

John, It'll keep buggin you till you do it.  Give yourself a break and just try it.  At the place you're at right now, it will not be a big shock to anyone.  And most of all, you won't have to worry about it anymore

You'll definitely rock the sly look good bro.  If I were you I would keep the full beard look with the bald dome.  That would look awesome on you man.  Keep us posted.

Hey John, if you shaved this Friday when you get home from work, your hair will be back to where it is Monday morning when you go back.  Though, I'm betting that if you did that the hair wouldn't be there on Monday.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Thanks for the advice. That's one of the things i'm "torn" about;  I like having a beard; when I had a goatee I didn't enjoy the face shaving (and it was really rough on my face).  Whether the head shaving will be hard on my skin, I'd have to see; but I know that I'd look better with a shaved head; the
front /top is getting mighty thin !

I've been completely clean up top for over a decade.  And when I did it - it WAS "extreme".  Bald with a goatee was more of a skinhead look than a hip thing (at least in my area - extremely small town Ohio).

The Mr. Morehead - More Head Than Hair - is OK if that's what you like.  But it sounds like going full out might be good too!
Have a DYNAMITE Day!
