Chris Benoit (WWE Wrestler)

Well, looks like the Roids are taking center stage again.

While I'm not a big fan of the WWE (I used to watch it when it was the WWF because my sons were big fans), I am shocked by the turn of events in recent days.

I'm quite sure that you have heard by now of the murder/suicide of Benoit and his family. My oldest son is a Benoit (pronouced Ben-Wah) fan.

3 lives lost. Was Roid Rage the factor? Thats what they're looking into now. But I disagree. I agree with the WWE when they say that Roid Rage was not the factor.

He killed his wife on Friday. Being a professional wrestler herself, she probably fought back, resulting in a head injury they found. After getting her tied up, no doubt he started using a modified "sleeper hold", placing his knee on her back while applying upwards pressure on her neck. A typical submission hold but used in a fatal fasion. Resulted in the bruise found on the small of her back during her autopsy and the strangulation finding.

If "Roid Rage" was the factor, he would have beaten her to death, and probably destroy every stick of furniture in the office.

His son was killed on Saturday, using a standard choke hold. Same thing applies, he would have caught a beating.

He calls WWE several times on Friday (after his wife was dead) arranging a flight to make the PPV in Texas. He could not make the Saturday night gig because of a "family emergency". He sounded very tired and groggy, and tells one of the WWE employees that he "loves them".

He kills his son on Saturday, mills around the house for the day with his day old dead wife laying in an office and his 7 year old son laying face down in his bed. He then sends several text messages using his and his wifes cell phones early Sunday morning. He places bibles next to the bodies and then probably soon afterwards, hung himself on his weight machine.

This is not your typical Roid Rage episode. The Rage passes after several hours, not days, and is typically violent. The furniture would have probably been destroyed. And the bibles would have probably been torn in half instead of being placed next to the bodies.

For the first time I agree with Vince McMahon on something. These were not the effects of a Rage episode. It was a methodical, thought through murder/suicide. I have no pitty for Chris Benoit. In my book, he is a baby killer who would have been given the death penelty had he been arrested and gone to trial. The only difference between him and some no-name baby killing scumbag, is the fact that Benoit was a celebrity. I am glad that the WWE has stripped it's website of his "Talent Profile", news items, and merchandise. And before the beginning of last nights show, McMahon said his name will not even be spoken once during the show.

I am sorry if I may insult Benoit fans, but consider what he did. Using a choke hold normally used on grown men that weigh as much as he does, on a little boy. I don't care how great he was in the ring, he had no business placing a fatal choke hold on a 7 year old little boy suffering from dwarfism. As tragic of a fact that he killed his wife as well, at least she stood a chance to survive by fighting back. A 7 year old can't.

He should have just hung himself first.

Rot in Hell Benoit.   >:(  God Bless the wife and child.

I will never watch "WWE" the same way again.

The guy is a scumbag coward...

Although it may not of seemed like a "roid rage" episode, the steroids w/o question had to play a part in it. The are too many side-effects to taking them, depression, anger, thoughts of suicide, plus he was fighting with his wife in the place, the nutbag snapped. His kid was mentally-retarded and was being given growth hormones...is this normal behavior?

I wouldn't be suprised if the steroid use had something to do with his son's unfortunate disease...

With that being said though, it is a shame for the child...he never had a chance.

what a shame indeed....

I used to watch wwf/wwe/wcw when i was a little kid. I grew up watching benoit fight. Hearing this took me by total surprise. hearing anyone do that to their wife and child is shocking enough but hearing it from someone you grew up watching is even more shocking.

my thoughts and prayers go out to the families and fans of those lost.

...and i agree = I will never watch WWE/WWF the same again...

Its overall a sad story.  I have to disagree with YOSP here... We don't know the state of the situation, and therefore we are not justified in judging him so harshley.  But most of all, Its an overall tragady.  Chris was a great wrestler.

This is overall a tragady.  Three lives gone before the clock wound down.

We all have problems in our relationships, some of us might even abuse drugs/steroids.  The important thing here is to remember that if you know of someone who is having problems, be them substance related or relationship related, we all have a duty to extend what aid we can and not sit in silence.

My prayers are with the Benoit Family.  My prayers are also with all of ya'll, that you might be able to avoid the slings and arrows of life, but most of all when they do make contact I pray that someone is there to help you pick yourself up if you need.

I am always here for any brother, any time.
Peace

Everyone has the right to their own opinions...that is why I have no issue with you disagreeing, you seem like a good dude, and we have agreed in the past on some things.

I can't forgive someone that murders their own family, there is no situation that can justify this. As more info comes out on the story, Benoit looks more and more like a bad guy. He was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to have a good life, made damn good $$$, and couldn't handle it, + had to cheat and use steroids, no tragedy here except for his son and wife having to lose their lives like that.

Well said bro.  It is a sad thing because the kid didn't even have a chance.  The wife either for that matter as strong as Benoit probably was.

Apparently there was a lot of violence in the past. A restraining order had been take out at some time in the past. What role did the wife have to play in all of this? It is a good example of women going back into an abusive relationhsip and not protecting themselves and their children. Once an abuser always an abuser, unless a lot of psychological help. A sad situation for all.

Have to agree with YOSP on this one and I am going to wait for the Tox report to come back regarding steroids.

I herd of this from a friend of my moms. I love WWE, but have not had the chance to watch it in a while. No one in my house but me is a big WWE fan. My dad used to watch it with me, but stopped, thinking it was too fake. Although, It is still entertaining. I normally borrow my friends magazines off them to keep up to date with what is going on. Could not believe this when I herd it though. He used to be one of my favorite wrestlers. I used to like watching him when he was part of the four horsemen in the WCW, if anyone remembers that far back. Still remember the first Royal Rumble he won in the WWE. That being said, I cant believe what he did to his family. You have to wonder what drove him that far to do a thing like that.  Although, I agree with BigJimW's thoughts. You have to feel sorry for his son and wife, plus his 2 other kids he left behind from his previous marrage.
