Hi everyone,
Spent the past 30 mins or so reading through the forum. Feel i have been shaving my head long enough now to become a master at it, something i feel i am far away from achieving at the moment.
I started receding about 10 years ago when i was 20, but about 5 years ago i started to thin on the top. Anyway, about 9 months ago i finally shaved my head. Best choice i ever made. seriously should have done it ages ago!
I started with Wahl Balding clippers. Didnt think I'd like to shave it all off. This lasted about three months. Really good close shave, but too much faff, and i started liking it shorter and shorter meaning i was having to do it every other day.
For the past 6 months I have been shaving. My routine is this, although after reading threads i think i am going to try a few new things.
No pre prep
Lather up some shaving gel and apply with hands.
Mach3
WTG first, then ATG. seem to have to do this several times before it is completely smooth.
Moisturise.
It can take me about 25 mins.
I can have quite dry and oily skin so i tend to do this at night so i don't mind the shine as much.
Now, i really don't like the shine look on me, prefer matted, so in the morning i wash my head with a matt scrub and then apply HeadLube matte moisturiser. This only really lasts me about an hour, before i tend to go shiny again.
Im going to carry on reading as i want to find out a few things such as...
Is there anything else i can try to prevent the shine, and at the same time moisturise my head.
Any better blades, last longer, cheaper etc - need to look into the double edge blades / Headblades, have no idea of these.
Better gel, foam, use of a foaming brush.
anything to stop irritation - i tend to get spots sometimes on the back of my neck, at the bottom of my shaving.
Best regards
