Anything with a built in battery is crap, once it can't hold a charge you have to get someone to replace it, else void your warranty.

I just got my Ipod, haven't spent enough time with it yet to formulate an opinion. but as mentioned above, creating separate playlist is probably the simplest thing to do. I miss my MD player personally. you could use rechargeable batteries and charge them directly in the player and record off of anyones stereo or PC (anything with an earphone jack).
Schro, the answer to your question is YES, as long as you each have your own profiles (logins) setup in Windows. With Windows setup this way, when you login to iTunes you will have different libraries and can choose which music is designated for that specific profile. If this doesn't make sense, call me.
Oh, the iPod Shuffle is awesome. It's about the size of a book of matches and is great for jogging.
