Anything with a built in battery is crap, once it can't hold a charge you have to get someone to replace it, else void your warranty.

I forgot to mention on my Sandisk Sansa, I have the ability to replace the worn out rechargeable battery myself -- no sending it in to Apple, etc. for replacement.  By the way, I'm still loving my purchase.

I've advised some of my buddies on mp3 players, alot of them ended up with Sandisks, they make rock solid USB thumbdrives too.

I just got my Ipod, haven't spent enough time with it yet to formulate an opinion. but as mentioned above, creating separate playlist is probably the simplest thing to do. I miss my MD player personally. you could use rechargeable batteries and charge them directly in the player and record off of anyones stereo or PC (anything with an earphone jack).

MD players rocked balls in their glory days. They are still used quite a bit in the recording industry apparently.

I loved the MD.  I was in Japan in 1999 and they were the hottest thing in music. I figured it would eventually take off in the US if it did in Japan.  Well, that never happened, but I had a sweet Denon MD player in my house with TONS of music on MD.

Schro, the answer to your question is YES, as long as you each have your own profiles (logins) setup in Windows.  With Windows setup this way, when you login to iTunes you will have different libraries and can choose which music is designated for that specific profile.  If this doesn't make sense, call me.

UPDATE: The answer is yes. Two iPods can share the same library. I recently downloaded the most recent version of iTunes (many improvements), and when you connect your iPod to your PC, it recognizes the unit (as long as you assign them different names) and recalls what songs you have stored in your individual unit. From there, you just drag n' drop songs from your iTunes library into the iPod attached to your PC and BAM!, you're rockin' & rollin'.

Elderlies and technology crack me up. My grandmother still can't grasp the concept of burning cd's, I think if I gave her an Ipod stocked with all her fav tunes she'd either have another stroke or starve my grandfather to death I gave her a Glen Miller burned cd one year and she drove the family nuts for months.

Havent read down the entire thread, but inorder to have sperate libraries you will need o have two user accounts like Tyler Mentioned. To create a second user account

click on Start > Control Panel > user Account > "create a new Account" > Type the name of the person using this account > if it's for the wife create it as "Computer Administrator" if it's for the kids create it as "limited"

If the music is located in My Documents\My Music and you would like to transfer them
Once that account is created you can open my documents for the new user account.
open my computer than navigate to c:\documents and settings\{original user account}\my documents\my music

so now that you have the 2 folders open, cut the music files you would like into the new user account. If you want to have some of the songs in both libraries, than create short cuts for them in one of the user accounts..
