Just thought I'd share this little story

Not a story, just a thought really. Dont know where this belongs as well, so I'd just post this here.

I remember when Tyler said that no one cares about your hair as much as you do.
In fact, no one cares about ANYTHING as much as you do.

Now, im a very self conscious person; I always care about what people see of me. I dont want to be out with the bald look and have people staring at me (although in a good way is okay i guess haha)

The first day I shaved my head, which was pretty recently, I went to the grocery store, and I kept a good eye, seeing if anyone would look at me all weird. I payed attention to everyone in the store. About 30 minutes (I was really just chilling in the store, wasn't planning on buying anything lol) I came to the conclusion that no one really CARES. Cared about how I look at least. I didn't get any weird looks, stares, etc. Although I get the occasional glimpse, but those people were looking at me just if how they were looking at anyone else.

I noticed the same thing when I first went sly. I didn't get anywhere near the amount of comments or weird looks as I expected.

The day I shaved my head for the first time, I went to the supermarket and was certain everyone would be looking at me.  I was surprised that no one seemed to pay any attention, then I realized I wasn't the center of the universe like I thought!  For anyone on the fence who is holding back because he thinks everyone will notice and stare, the reality is that almost no one notices, especially strangers!

I first shaved my head in '01. Prior to that I had long hair, down to my shoulder blades. My wife and I had owned a coffee delivery service and one of our clients was a hair salon. One of the stylists, who occasionally trimmed the dead ends off my hair for free, saw me the day after I shaved my head for the first time. When she first saw me with the shaved head she asked me if I had lost weight.
The operative part of this post was that she was a hair stylist.
I've never had anyone comment negatively on me sporting the sly look.

Yesterday at the dollar store a little girl and her mom were shopping the same aisle as me. I was sitting in my wheelchair. The girl looks at me, and I can tell she's putting pieces together as kids do. She asks her mom, "mom that lady doesn't have much hair, does she?"  The mom politely but without awkwardness said "no honey she doesn't" and I said to the girl, "nope, hair is quite optional." The mom said to me, "I was thinking she would comment on your wheelchair rather than your hair!" Lol. It was cute.

I'm glad you came to the same conclusion that I did!  Once you realize that most people are more interested in themselves you can use that to posture yourself accordingly.
