shaving head for halloween
« on: August 13, 2014, 12:01:22 PM »
hey guys so i will be shaving my head for halloween this year I was always liked the bald head look but always been afraid to take the plunge. i have a tinny bit of receding on my temples but not that it really looks like I'm going bald yet. so i figured i can text the waters and see how i look bald for halloween. this way i can save money and not buy a bald cap. i will be going as Heisenberg from Braking Bad. so I'm just wondering if you guys would Suggest going and having it shaved at a Barber Shop for the first time or should i do it myself. and if i do it myself what is your advice, what kinda Razor, and shaving cream do i use?

Perfect reason to treat yourself to a salon finish for a shaved dome.  I want to get everyone on board for this so we can just have a choice.  What do you think?

It will be much cheaper if you do it yourself.  Just use the shaving cream and razor you shave your face with. I don't recommend Bic razors. Any Gillette razor should be good.  I personally use Mach 3.  Start off by shaving with the grain (direction of the hair) so you won't have a nasty case of razor burn.  Good luck and take your time shaving.

You should also buzz it down with a trimmer first.

You can certainly do it yourself with clippers first, then a good multiblade razor.  That's how I started.

That being said, if money isn't a huge issue, I would highly recommend a good barbershop straight razor shave.  It's more about the experience than the shave itself, although the shave is likely to be better than you'll ever get doing it yourself too.

Think of it as a spa treatment for a man.

Gwsmallwood, A spa treatment for a man is a good description.  Not sure what proportion of people has had that what I call the salon finish experience.
