Slyfive, looks great! Are you regrowing your shaved beard, or do you plan to shave the peach fuzz on the chin?

Prefer the circular handlebars there, Slyfive. Something of the 1930 'chocks-away' pilot look !
Is that a daily waxing job ?

Sailor, you can grow a great beard and a great mo. Looks great either way.
Slyfive, I love all the crazy stuff you do, man. (except covering that head..lol)
Bayou Sly, that was a great story... (good to hear guys are getting courage from seeing Sly guys).
Raulski, you can pull off a bunch of great looks too, bud.

Better to be bald than balding

'Chocks away!' Is definitely what I was going for, it's becoming a catchphrase. Harry, the fuzz on the chin is sticking around, I always wear a bit of stubble, but it'll be a while before the beard returns, it took too much effort! And speaking of effort, yes mr J, it's a daily wax, but if I don't, it still hold a nice, more relaxed shape on the second day. Thanks Myke, crazy is my M.O.

Not too late at all, Joe....Looking good, reminds me of the strong man at the circus with the shaved head and handlebar mustache....and I mean that in a good way. (On a side note, that was one of my childhood heroes, which when I started balding, made going sly a lot easier.)

Never too late, Joe. Nice set of handlebars you have. I am sure you can offer encouragement and advice for the rest of us here.

Cheers slybeard and Bayou Sly.
'Circus Strongman' was the look I was aiming for and I have yet to meet anyone (over the age of 20) who hasn't loved the look.
For anyone thinking of growing a set ... just do it. That moment when someone has a double-take or misses a step because they are in such awe of your hairstute appendage of the upper lip, complete with graspable extremities is a pretty nice feeling.

Vinny,
Do you have a more recent picture? Have you trimmed or just let it grow since the photo shown?

The thought had crossed my mind...
What's the maintenance like on a set of 'bars ?

Mr. Jules, when I decide to wax the curl into my mo, it take me about 20 min or so to get it into shape. My normal daily style is to just comb the mustache to the side and down on the sides and to blend in with the beard. I still have to use some product to hold the mustache hairs to the side and out of my mouth, so about 5 minutes. I suspect if I curled it daily, I would improve my efficiency.
The product is use is "Got2be Glued" which is actually marketed as a hair spiking glue. My mustache hair, if left to its own, just curls down into my mouth. Other mustache waxes that I tried were not "stiff" enough to hold my mustache in shape and out of my mouth. The "Got2be Glued" is very stiff, drys quickly with a blow dryer, and washes out easily with water.
In all, I spend less time on my mustache/beard styling than I previously spent trying to style my scalp hair.

Slybeard - thanks for your advice. I like the ever growing mo, it's just that I now need a napkin after eating and drinking. Some sort of wax would be useful.
