What's the best shave brush?

Upon deciding to try traditional shaving methods I purchased a shaving brush by Tweezerman and in my first 2 days of use I've noticed that it loses bristles. So this has led me to the thinking that eventually I'll need a different brush.

I have collected a cete of brushes, and in my opinion,  the best bang for the buck is at Whipped Dog.

If they are boar or badger there going to have lose hairs and over years break down and fall apart and you buy another one. I use a cheap boar hair one that works great for me I never have been able to bring my self to spend more then $30 on a brush. There are sights that sell all the stuff to make your own if you are feeling art and craft time coming on. You can make a silver tip for 40 bucks if you want it just won't have a fancy name on it. Whippeddog.com does have some good stuff on it tough.  IHO you don't need a fancy brush as long as it works a lather and your comfortable with it.

The loss of a few hairs is pretty normal when first using the brush.

I have an inexpensive badger brush that I love. It's made by Vulfix. I think it was $24.
I also have a very cheap boar's hair brush... Wally World, about $8 I think. I've had this one about three years.

The boar's hair is stiffer so if you have a "hard" shave soap it may work a bit easier. The badger is great on softer shave soaps and cremes.

I had purchased a Kingsley silver tip brush to replace the one I'm currently using (when it dies); but I never got the chance to use it, I gave it to a friend for Xmas.
The brush I'm using has slowed down the shedding for now. I have a boar brush that came in a shave kit that I got for Xmas but when I used it it smelled awful and I haven't used it since, I'm probably just going to keep it as an emergency brush unless I snag another one before my current brush dies.

Just for information, what is the basic price range on the Kingsley brushes?  Do you have any online dealers you can recommend?

Remember that these brushes are made from wild animal hair and a lot of times they WILL stink until you wash them out a few times. Again, pretty normal.

The Golden Nib knots are really good and not that expensive.

Other than that any Semogue or Omega should do a good job too

"What's the best shave brush?"   That is a definite YMMV type of question.  I prefer boar brushes such as the Semogue brushes.  IMHO... Semogue brushes are the best bang for your buck boar brushes in the planet.

You can get a Semogue 620 for about $22-$25 and it is well worth it.  It gives an added boost to my shave routine.  One thing about boar brushes is that they have a "break-in" period.  Meaning... the hairs will "split" for that added bloom appearance that will provide monster lathers on any hard soap, soft soap, or cream.  Check out the Safety Razor Section of the forum (SOTD):  Safety Razor Shave of the Day... you can view a lot of my pics with my Semogue 620 or Semogue SOC. 

Portugal is the country that makes these beautiful brushes.  If anyone has any thoughts of trying a boar brush... Semogue brushes will never disappoint.

If you do not use a brush and soap, any brush will be wonderful.  Don't spend a lot to begin with, you will want to try different ones once you get hooked.

I got a cheap bager on amazon that required a few times soaping it up to get the smell away. the 2 boar hair brushes I have had a about a week to 2 week break in. they start to split and then they become an awesome brush. I have never used a high end badger hair brush because I just can't bring myself to pay for it.  That is just me I think paying much over 30 bucks for a brush is a bit much.
