It happens, a while back I had to have some surgery and when I was (more or less) recovered I noticed that several days had passed and I had....can I say thisa?.....Hair? Worse, it looked like an old fashioned butch cut which isn't, in and of itself bad, at least for others but not for me. Be assured that the next time my surgeon came in to see me he got a good tongue lashing about medical ethics, a man's dignity, and HIS responsibility to keep me as I arrived only somewhat improved internally. It was carefully explained to him that I was devastated, yes, devastated to find this frosting of gray, white, something I'll call sludge and something else slightly sallow in hue creeping over my skull. What had he done? More importantly what was he going to do to rectify this situation? I finally relented-just a bit-and allowed him to examine what he'd worked on but, as he left, I told him I fully expected to me made welll above and below the neck line.
Hospitals are truly remarkable places, a person who routinely shaves one in advance of surgery showed up and not only shaved my head but my face as well. He was about to launch into further peelings when I thanked him for his service and suggested he leave. As with everything in life, if you don't see it, ask for it and if you do see it and want it removed ask for that as well.
