Lions vs. Texans.....
buddha:
Did anybody else see the problem with Forsett's 81 yard TD run against the Lions? I wonder what game the refs were watching?
tomgallagher:
That was definitely a strange one.
Tyler:
I was on a plane...what happened?
StumpyDave:
He was tackled but downed. Defence stopped playing and he continued to run into the end zone.
The replays on UK TV weren't definitive. His knees may not have touched the ground and he seemed to hold his body off the ground with his forearm, not his elbow. Ruled as not down, touchdown.
Don't you play until the whistle?
Sir Harry:
From what I saw, Forsett ran for 8 yards and appeared to be down. No whistle had been blown, but everyone assumed he was down. Forsett smartly got up and kept running all the way to the endzone. The big thing was that Coach Schwarz threw his challenge flag before Forsett "scored" to challenge, however all scoring plays are automatically reviewed. The refs said that since Schwarz illegally threw the challenge flag, a review was denied and since there was no whistle the play stood as called. In my opinion, the play should have been reviewed and the Lions should have been penalized 15 yards. Even Forsett admitted he was down. It would be easy to say that the officiating cost the Lions the game, and that may be true, but unlike the Packers/Seahawks debacle two months ago, the Lions had their chances to overcome and still win the game (see overtime). It was a bad call nonetheless.
