Yes, I know I've posted a lot lately.

Anyways, I was using shampoo(specifically tea tree oil based) today for shaving lotion and got the smoothest shave I've gotten so far. But it was also irritated, and still feels somewhat raw, seven hours later, though that might be from using a different razor than usual. But the shave is great, and I wanted to know if soap usually hurts the skin or not when shaving with it.

Also, the soap was designed to be somewhat tingly, so when I ran over one bit of skin too much, it hurt a lot. This wasn't because I was getting razor burn, it was because the nerves could feel pain more clearly. So I could actually feel the pain before it was a problem, like an early warning. Kind of a plus, I suppose, since that's what pain is for.

There is no such thing as "posting a lot" Here it's the quality, not the quantity of the post.

I personally, don't like to shave with shampoo, as it can dry my scalp out...But that's just me....If it works for you go for it, but make sure you put something on your head to prevent dryness....my 0.02

Along the same lines, I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with using shampoo as a shaving lubricant - but that's not how it was formulated and thus its specific characteristics may not be ideal in such use.

To determine whether it's "right" for you, though, would be to make that the only change in your routine and see how it goes - versus using shampoo and a different razor (if I read that correctly).

Once you hit the right combination it's great knowing that every shave will be exactly as good as yesterday's. For me, HeadSlick with HeadBlade and a two-blade cartridge is the winner.

I've heard conditioner is good but not shampoo.

In a pinch many things can be used...lite oil, gels, conditioners, imho.  8)

And my scalp is still sore and bumpy. So I'm guessing it was the razor, which I have not used in a long time.
