Trying to decide if this is a decent look or not

Just to start off, you guys are awesome and a very helpful bunch. As for me, I am 22 and it seems like my hair has matured to a point where I'm not sure if I really want to keep it. On the flip side, I am not sure how I feel about the shaved head either. I have had multiple friends (women) tell me I look a lot better with the shaved (buzzed very close) head and light beard, but it is hard to get used to after having long hair my whole life. My guy friends joke around when I buzz it and my mom is disgusted by it but I guess in the end what I think matters the most, the only problem is I am on the fence which is why I am here - also my head shape isn't perfect. The "bald picture" is the closest thing I have to bald on my computer, haha. All thoughts welcomed and appreciated. Both pics are within 6 months of each other.

Welcome! From what I can see the short buzz looks much better than the thicker hairstyle....Many guys take gradual steps toward going sly, so if you feel more comfortable with a short buzz, keep it that way. Good luck and post often.

To be honest I think that both looks suit you, the buzz cut makes you look younger! Experiment and see what you think, you are right when you say it's you who you have to please, but it's tough when you have other opinions!

simply take it step by step. we can not help you if you come here and say ' my mom does not like it'. does your mom wear the style, or you are doing it? get control over your life. shave it off, be free of it. your headshape is fine. it's all in your mind

There is no such thing as the "perfect head shape for being bald", Just take a look at all the chrome domes on here, everyone has a different head shape and yet the look works for them!

There is really 2 options you have here:

1) Just take the plunge and shave it off, remember it is only hair and will take a matter of days for it to grow back to a number 1 buzz if you don't like it, or otherwise

2) Buzz it down slowly over a matter of weeks/months until you find a length you are happy with, if you make it all the way to sly then so be it, as long as you are happy that is all anyone can ask for!

I think you look good with the buzz cut. There's nothing wrong at all with the shape of your head. The next step is to go completely sly. If you decide you don't like it, your hair will grow back. Ultimately, it's your own opinion that matters most. Anyone else's is secondary, including your parents.

To be really honest, I think that you look fine in both photo's. However, if you really want to know what you would like without hair you really have to get your head shaved. If you don't really like it, and that is doubtful, then you can just let it grow back.

Also, it doesn't really matter what parents or anyone else thinks as it is your hair & not anyone elses.
