Mine's a modification of the pre-1870 phrase: "Measure twice, and cut once."
Mine: "Think twice, before speaking once."
Which I think deserves further modification: "Think three times, before posting once." Comments on the Internet live forever despite retractions or clarifications, and without facial expressions and tonal inflection the comments can be wildly misinterpreted.
