Hi everyone.

Let me introduce myself.  I'm 24 years old and have recently decided to go sly full time, thanks in part to this wonderful forum.  When I was in high school, being a fantasy fiction nerd and metal head, having flowing locks was my dream.  Indeed, I even have an artifact of a photo showing me with the hippie look in place.  Well, that didn't last long.  I purchased some clippers during my freshman year of college and used them at first to save money.  By the time I was old enough to drink legally, my hair was noticeably thinning.  I continued to buzz my hair until 2011, when I went sly for the first time.  I lacked confidence in myself and the new look.  I didn't want to believe that it was my best look, either.  From February 2012 until this past week I didn't do a thing to my hair, no shaves, haircuts, nothing.  I wanted to give the whole Fabio thing one last try, believing that if I believed hard enough, I could be a modern day Legolas again.

Well, you guys know the end of the story.  I took a comb and a closer look at my scalp a few days ago and realized that I was deluding myself.  While the hair on the sides of my head was doing okay, I had shorter, weaker, and summarily fewer hairs on top, leading to a sort of desperate appearance I've often winced at when seen on other males.  It was time to embrace the sly look, even if I didn't know what it was called until a quick Google search yielded this site.  What a place this is!  I am glad to know that there is a community for fellows like ourselves out there, and I look forward to spending time here.

Don't even think of looking back.

Did you have (or do you now?) have any particular concerns about committing to the Sly Style?

Seeing other people for the first time is the usual one. What are your expectations?
