I have not been hitting the gym as much. But I have been very physically active because I have been cleaning up my company's landscaping the past few weeks. So I think that qualifies as exercise. As of this morning I have made my goal of losing 8 pounds a month. So I am down to 212 and at the beginning of the month I was 220!

I did say I'd join for the September page, but I started in August anyway! No point in putting it off! Had good workouts Friday, Saturday and today (Monday).
I'll try and get 4 times a week to the gym, as well as throwing in some kettle bell exercises a few times a week at home.
Looking to tighten things up, lose some body fat, add on a bit of muscle and strength.
Starting a distance learning MA course late in September, as well as working full time, but have to squeeze in the exercise too!
Good luck guys!

Glad to see you joined in early Blue! Once you get into a routine, everything will just gel nicely. You just have to make a routine and stick to it

Great Blue as I totally agree with Beardman on that point!
Had a nice recovery ride today to and from the gym, ice arms, chest and abs session.
Keep it up team Sly.
Cheers,
Turbo

TY keep up those killer bike rides. Man... that is a lot of miles.
Also... update on me is bad with no gym time. With Hurricane Isaac being close by we have been experiencing bad tropical storm weather here so next week I'm gonna hit the gym hard.

Completely understandable under the circumstances Warhawk!
I might as well clock out now, being the 31st here down under.
I have fallen short of my weight loss goal by 4lbs. If I didn't have a bad week last week with the fast food I quite possibly would have made my goal.
Oh well, gives me something to aim for next month!
I have also been consistently well under my goal of 9min for 2kms on my row!
The shoulder is coming along nicely too.
So even though I never made my weight loss goal, I still think I had a pretty successful month, to lose about 6lbs in a month is nothing to scoff at!

That's a damn fine month Beardman, you should target 1.5-2 pounds a week max anyway according to most research I have studied. Based on the above report you had a great month, keep it up!
Cheers,
Ty

I've found that as I have focused on more compound movements, such as the deadlift and zercher squats, I've reached my fitness goals a lot faster. On the days that I am off work (tuesday in particular), I make that my leg day, and do those compound exercises with heavy weight, though preformed safely. I large part of your muscle mass will come from the lower half of your body- once you increase the amount of muscle on your legs and glutes, you will burn more calories. Since they have the most potential for growth, it makes sense you focus on them just as much as your arms or chest.
I've followed that for a almost two years now and I went from weighing 145 lbs to 209 lbs with a 30 inch waist. Just my two cents. Creatine and a low acidic fruit juice, coupled with a slightly larger than you burn a day caloric intake is the only way to gain muscle.
Good luck and I am glad to see so many people taking care of themselves.

Here is my end of month check in-
Hit most of my lifting goals, minus a couple days when I was down with a cold.
Bike total miles - 370, with several 35+ mile runs and a 50+ mile day thrown in. Tomorrow we are doing a metric century!!
Weight loss - exceeded with a total loss of 8.5 pounds.
V02Max gain 4 points which was much better than targeted by 2 points.
Only down side is left elbow is acting up still, looks like a checkup is in order once summer comes to a close.
How did everyone else do?
I will post the September kick off later tonight.
Welcome to the forum Savellij1!
Cheers,
Ty

Wow, well done Ty, exceeded your goals all round!
I would certainly get that elbow checked out.
Welcome to the family Savellij1, I always love hearing about how other people do things, I am like a sponge, I absorb every bit of knowledge I can and use it where I can. I would say that my legs are my strongest muscle group by far. At the moment they are probably getting a better workout then my upper body at the moment too haha.
