Welcome mate! When you finally do teh deed I cannot stress enough to not put any pressure on the blade at all, and to take it really slow. Also keep to straight strokes at first, if you start doing crazy turns and pressing to hard is when you are going to start doing some damage! I have personally had no problem with the Headblade, but I have heard many stories of people going potato peeler on their scalps!
Best advice there. And like many others here, you practice as you go along.
Yes, you might want to use your electric razor first.
If you have a wet shave, then with the razor long gentle passes from front to back - in one go from forehead to neck.

Welcome Jeff. Congratulations for joining and deciding to go sly soon.
Some basics to follow :
Cut your hair as short as possible with your electric clipper. Wash your hair. Apply your shaving cream of choice. Use a brand new razor, it does not have to be the Headblade yet. Take your time, go slowly. Use your weaker hand to feel for any missing bits as you shave. If you pick up a few nicks the first time, don't fret, this is quite normal for the virgin noggin.
When you get the Headblade, keep the wheels on the head, but as already stated, use no pressure as this may slice you and put you off the Headblade for life. The Headblade is an awesome item but it may take a little practice. Watch the clip on the HB website, I found it very useful.
What he said.

Set the role model for the student pilots. Shave your head.
You'll be a trend setter and you'll feel cool with a shaved head.

As Slyfive has been saying, being sly makes you aerodynamic, what more can your students ask for from a cool aerodynamic flight instuctor? hehehe.
